Okay guys, now i just need to know, how do i get in touch with the tower manager? I dont even have a number to call "tower?"

Don't quote me on the numbers, but I think they're right:

LAX - Tower: 310-342-4900, Airport Office - 310-646-4267
LGB - Tower: 562-424-7128, Airport Office - 562-570-2600
ONT -Tower: 909-605-0057, Airport Office - 909-937-2700
SNA -Tower: 714-668-0141, Airport Office - 949-252-5200

Yes, it is still possible to get a tour of a control tower. I toured one of the local towers in the Phoenix, AZ area about six months ago.

According to the tower manager you will need to do the following things:

1. Call 24 hours in advance and request a tour.
2. On the day of the tour you will need to sign a logbook and present a valid ID from a government entity.

Some suggestions:
-Visit a control tower of a smaller or less busy airport. They will probably be more willing/able to give a tour than a larger airport.

-Ask plenty of questions. I'm sure they appreciate someone taking an interest in their profession.

-It helps if you are an aviation student/professional. The tower manager will be more willing to give the tour to those people who will really benefit from the tour rather than the regular layperson.

If you have any questions, PM me.

Do you think its possible to get a tour of KPHX tower. If so I'll wait until the new tower is done with construction.

I've never been asked for citizenship when bringing folks into the tower . . .

Well Lloyd, after they hear you talk, for about 5 seconds, they know where you're from.....:nana2: NEW YORK CITY

That new tower under construction is about twice as tall as the one being replaced.

Yup...better visability of the field. It would be awesome to take a tour when it is finished. I got a list of questions to ask the ATC guys!

Hey, always thought it was pretty cool - the airport towers. Do you think it's possible to get a tour now a days? My interests would be somewhere around LA: SNA, LGB, ONT, LAX.

Are there any rules against this? Any info would be appreciated - thanks!

I am contacting the Long Beach Tower to see what is the procedure to arrange a Tower Tour. I also know some of the people at LAX, will check what is their procedure....

Alright, everyone, thanks for the help! Yes, i am a US Citizen, so that'll work for me. Terms of bringing food, shouldnt it a sealed package, as they dont know me and they probably wont eat it?

Also, how do i get in touch with the manager about this?

Now whoever i go with, do they have to be a student pilot too? As usual, im thinking about taking my dad. He's got fascination about it, but isnt a student of any sort.

Whoever is local to SoCal let me know if you'd be interested in going, i'll try and set something up then!

Hey Bigey,

I met you and your father at the Boeing plant. Let me know if you set something up as I would be interested in going.

No problem with short notice that I've experienced. Usually call the TWR on ground coming in (or TWR freq if I think that far ahead:sitaware: ).

Have called from my car before, same thing, NO PROBLEMS. JDE and I went up in Alliance Tower before he left the state of Texas, just called the number in the AFD/AOPA Directory, asked to come up, they said just a sec.... the rest is history.

The best is taking a new student up, they're so full of questions:cwm27:
