So... 800+ potential furloughs over the next year or so.
Figure cut that for attrition and I still probably end up commuting to reserve.
Funny the difference a year can make.
How? Most of the Captains are senior enough to bid over to the 9E -200 (with its pathetic excuse for a ratio). Colgan captains bid the -200, 9E guys get screwed again...
The company already created a mess with 11-09. The history for bad decisions concering training and vacancies is there.there would need to be over 300 vacancies to absorb all the cjc capts. not going to happen any time soon
So wait, let me get this straight...Delta loaned Pinnacle $74million just so Pinnicle could turn around and pay back a $44million loan to Delta? Don't they still owe the money?
I am willing to bet that there will be many a current -200 captain that will be sent back to the right seat as a result of this bankrupcy.
The Colgan Windfall is now complete. BANG!
Pinnacle is not affected by low fares. At all. In any way.
Pinnacle is affected by signing a contract with United that was unprofitable.
No matter what United sells the tickets for, Pinnacle gets paid the same, and gets paid a flat fee for every flight. Hell, there's almost no way to NOT make money with a fee for departure setup.
Actually quite the opposite is happening and has been for some time now.

Speaking from experience watching the day to day operation, there are a craptastic amount of reasons why airlines are money losers and while gas may be an issue, they lost money even when gas was cheap.Trying to save a sinking ship with a red party cup. It hasn't been happening for a long time. maybe a few years at best. The fair hikes have been a stop leak measure, not a prevent leaks measure. Fairs have been artificially low for years now, and IMO, this is going to be to little to late for many companies.
First before anything I feel for you guys. Going through something like this is a level of suck no one should experience. However isn't a shrinking regional fleet what we all have been wanting in this industry? It sucks when that involves names that we know and families that will feel pain but I dont see how the regionals can go away without people losing jobs.
I haven't read the bloch award but I would guess fences only apply to voluntary bids, not displacement bids. But I would ask your union rep or P2P.right, but with the bloch award, cjc pilots will be locked out of many positions for a while no? I do feel its only fair though
delta owns us now ( not literally) but, I doubt they want to fund is flying planes for other operators.the regional fleet won't be shrinking though. there will be a new company flying it for cheaper.
It's like being a wholly owned, but worse.delta owns us now ( not literally) but, I doubt they want to fund is flying planes for other operators.
Q's are gone as fast as they can... Or delta asks for its money back right away. There won't be an AA bid, or a stand alone.
I wouldn't be surprised if all classes and sims cancel until they figure out how many will be furloughed since it is going to happenWow, just got done with my GFS session and we were arguing about when this would happen. I hope I can get through training and get some flying under my belt befor I get the axe!
