Plane down. New Smyrna, FL

And just to get it out of the way early, no, I don't know how to build vehicle-borne IEDs.

Just like my neighbor with the Vietnamese wife, she doesn't know much about how to construct an effective punji stick trap.

:)

And stop asking me about the damned basketball game.

Pick up a book every once in a while.

"If not for wimmins, minorities and ferners…" Yes, airplanes would still crash for ridiculous reasons. NEXT!

i think what is relevant is that English wasn't her first language.. So no, it doesn't matter. No need to get chippy.
Because native English speakers have never gone VMC into IMC and crashed! And attitude indicators and numbers totally require a flawless grasp of the English language.

My son went from level flight vfr to IMC and within 25 seconds was in the left roll decendjbg 3000 fpm today in the sim. Plane was trimmed out nothing had to be done.

So when you jumped off a lot of ramps on your BMX and would always freeze midair, then some gravely voiceover would say "Now JordanD just wasn't thankin' right" Dukes of Hazzard style?

Waylon Jennings.

And IIRC that was in Georgia, not Kentucky.

You know how long my family has waited for John Deere to come out with a General Lee riding mower? Generations!

Ohhh the PC police would be all over that.

Is there apple friendly audio out there? Can't seem to find any.
I don't think it's an Apple issue. I'm using Apple, so maybe. But it took a long time for it to load on my machine. At first I thought it was broken. Then I gave it some time and it loaded. I believe the NPR player is neutral, but not sure.

Thanks. I found a link on the first page.

What in the waylon Jennings are you talking about?. Everyone knows the duke boys are from hazard county GA.

Kinda late to chime in, I hadn't seen this thread before. But having studied with plenty of Asian students, and hearing half the audio - I couldn't bear to listen it fully.

I really think this was another case of "do what Sensei says". She called Hello several times - and when there was some positive contact with ATC she was repeating what she was taught, as a normal check in, and reading back everything the controller said. You could hear her anguish in her voice, but unfortunately the results were tragic.

I don't think this is a case of english not being the native language, I think this is a case of culture roots. Most asians are taugh that the instructor or the captain is Sensei and do whatever they say, regardless if its right or wrong. I guess she followed her instructor's - or boss' - instructions to the point it got out of her thought process and it went downhill from there.
