Pinnacle Corp., buys Mesaba

I would imagine so. I think mesaba will have our pass benefits by the end of the year anyway which are way worse than they have now.

2011 is what I'm hearing.

Also if on the colgan side they will be flying for continental and usair instead of delta. From what I can gather from the LOA it looks like the junior pilots (5 years or less) would be better off going or staying on the saabs. Anyone junior to that will end up on the bottom of the 9e list since almost everyone here has been on property for 2 years.

Here's the kick in the nuts: if the company decides to go through with it per the LOA, a 9 year XJ guy would be junior to me. Let's hope we can come up with something fair for everyone, otherwise there's gonna be fist fights in the flight deck AND in the cabin.....

Pass benefits die Jan '11

As far as integration, I'd assume things are gonna happen a little slower than what you are proposing. If planes get ripped from us fast Pinnacle can plan on Mesaba burning the place down, which may be the case. Everything I hear, it's status quo for a while.

Let's hope so. This management team has a history of jumping into things before they thing them through very well. Knee jerk reactions to sick calls, random fatigue policy changes and auction rate securities all come to mind. Although, I think our respective MECs need to be proactive and get in front of this now rather than later.

They are... as soon as the "big whigs" stop their Public Relations tour maybe they can give us answers or even make clear what they would *like* to do. How perfect to time the announcement to come out the day after we were put on ice (I found out late the previous night after the all pilot call about the purchase), have the announcement on a thursday morning and start a 4-day 4th of July weekend. Even yesterday they were in MSP for some PR with front line employees. I don't have a problem with them doing all this PR but all 3 MEC's were given zilch in the form of a heads up and even after the announcement was made there has not been info given to us of their desire or intentions when there will be an obvious friction point in 3 groups, 2 lists. There has been no hints at doing any stripping of folks with the exception of the Colgan name brand due to obvious reasons. XJ has their MSP headquarters contractually for 2 years. 9E doesn't have a contract that allows dual qual, and I do not see why it could even make sense to move anyone/anything around until they get labor figured out. If XJ has the rug ripped out from under them I have no doubts that america west/usair's fiasco would look "tame" compared to us. All 3 MEC's are working openly and together, just need some info before a path can truly be charted.

This should be underlined at every opportunity by all 3 MEC's. I'm sure the company will come at us, but there's no use throwing jabs in the dark from our or any pilot group yet. We have a contract, we still have all our airplanes for the moment, we are happy to fight if the fight comes at us. Until then all pilot groups just need to concentrate on flying safe.

Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

I went to the meeting and this is what i got out of it. (don't kill the messenger if you don't like it)
Integration can not occur until there is a pilot contract at Pinnacle. He said that is his number 1 priority going forward. He said that he wants us voting on it within 3 weeks. When asked how we could do that if we are on "ice" he said that he personally has called the NMB asking to meet again within a week or two. He also admitted that there needs to be a change in culture at pinnacle and he is responsible for more than 50% of it. He said that is a goal going forward. He said that there will be two airlines, there will be plenty of growth opportunitess going forward for both sides. He wants integration to start by this fall is the way i understood it. There will be a base eventually in JFK, probably by the end of the year, they just need more commitment from Delta. Also the SLC stuff should remain as of now.

This is the way i view this stuff. If I am voting on an acceptable contract within the next month and it passes, I will accept the fact that they want to change the culture here going forward and do my part to help. If they do negotiate again and its the same old stuff with pathetic last minute changes that stall the talks, then forget about it. Either way, we still have to work together with the pilots of xj and 9l to do this the right way.

So the XJ guys would come over into our new contract?? How are they going to work that if they don't get a vote?? If it's a good deal then I'm sure it's no problem....if it's anything like the company has proposed in the past.....well, you know.
