Pilot's hotels

Re: Pilot\'s hotels

For example, there's a fantastic hotel in San Diego whose lowest rate was $289/night, but I was able to talk the manager into giving me the 'airline' rate, which was about $80 when I took Kristie out there on a long weekend.

Springfield, Mass

Miked, you from massachusetts? And what were American Airline pilots doing in springfield, isn't that kind of far from logan and green?

[/ QUOTE ]

No, not from Mass. Am from AZ. But everytime we'd fly across the Atlantic to deploy to the Middle East, our jump-off point was Westover ARB, located in Chicopee, just up the road from Springfield. We'd stay on base or downtown, depending on availability. I believe the guys at the Holiday Inn were crews coming in from Hartford, Conn; which I wasn't too far away.

SickBird: I returned from Kirkuk. Was in the 354th at DM. Recently checked-out of DM and am now in New Mexico.

Were your accomadations in Kirkuk complete with mortar shellings?

[/ QUOTE ]

Every day. Happened once while I was posting on a computer to this very forum. Two shells whizzed overhead the ops building. Had to cut the post short to head to my battle position.

How much input (if any) do the pilots or union have when a company decides to switch hotels?

[/ QUOTE ]
NetJets pilots have a great deal of say. One avenue through the company standards dept. The other through the union travel committee. Who, if I may say publicly, is doing a GREAT job.
We accrue points at all major hotel chains and airlines. Most of us stack points towards our hometown airline. I average a 500,000 point balance in both my Hilton and USAir accounts. I'm heading to Vegas in July with my wife, first class, and all on points.

We mainly use the Hilton chain, followed by Westin, Marriott, Crown Plaza and Renaissance.

Gas Lamp Hilton-SAN is pretty nice.
