pilot punished for YouTube video

Re: 2nd Amendment? Not if you videotape TSA.

Except that screening before getting on a flight as an airline employee is really done as the "honor" system with the minor risk of being confronted by TSA while getting on the aircraft (except that they'll probably get you AFTER you're done flying).

It irks me to no end that we "MUST" be screened, at certain airports mind you, but TSA folks and other airport workers can go through without screening. A guy who wants to get something through, and onto, an aircraft WILL.

Re: 2nd Amendment? Not if you videotape TSA.

I think an important thing that many people are forgetting, is that terrorists are not stupid. I highly doubt that a group that's serious about taking down an airplane, is going to try and make a run for an open terminal door with a bomb under his arm. Don't forget, the 9-11 terrorists lived among us for years before the attack. They knew exactly where and how to defeat our systems. TSA using a machine to xray us is not going to stop anybody that is serious about an attack like some radical group. I only hope that our government figures this out before another serious attack occurs.

Agree. And precisely what I say saying above in different way. They're patient, creative, and have time to plan.

Every airport employee knows how lacking the security really as. As a former ramper I know of many ways that airport security is, well not really secure and how you could have gotten many bad things onto an airplane that is "secure." The TSA is just angry that this pilot pointed it out to the rest of the world.

Ain't that the truth.

So ... not that it would be particularly terrorizing, but do you suppose anyone is working on a Stuxnet-equivalent for the TSA's go-go booths? :) Maybe ramp-up the power 10-fold for each scan or replace the scan imagery with goatse on a random basis.

I agree with the second part, TSA is totally ineffectual. However, the post 9/11 terrorist attacks have been stupid. The Glasgow Airport attack is a perfect example of 'terrorists making a run for an open door' although they used a landrover and couldn't even martyr themselves properly. Shoes and underwear bombers have also revealed themselves to be idiots put up to it by others, with the intention of causing panic rather than actually blowing anything up. That open terminal door is exactly the kind of thing they'd go for. Another small-scale reminder of the need for a big government agency to protect us from our rights.

People get fired throughout my company regularly for not going thru. They do monitor that stuff, though most people seem to think the don't. I'd like to think the very realistic possibility of losing your job with ineligibility for re-hire is enough reason to play by the rules.

Yeah if what a person is worried about is their job, but if someone is looking to do harm the last thing on their mind is their job.

Re: 2nd Amendment? Not if you videotape TSA.

Funny thing happened to me the other day. I was at DFW, and the "Secure Area" that this guy taped was in plain view from THE BAGGAGE CLAIM! I hope this guy's attorney is a good one, and gets another video for him. I wasn't even on the "secure" side of "security" either. I was going to snap some pictures, but decided against it. Looking for a job and all, while rocking a boat just seems like suicide.
