Pilot Luggage

The best part about my LW bag is that when I need some work done to it, I can take it to the Stopover store in DTW at the end of a trip and pick it up before my next one. Or at least that's been my experience so far.

Where is the Stopover store in DTW?

What if you never plan to go to dtw, is it still worth getting it from stopover (aka do they do it at all their other locations as well?)? How does LW handle repairs, do you ship it out and just wait without a bag?

I was a typical poor regional pilot buying cheapo bag after cheapo bag (even the costco one wasnt that great). Ran into a furloughed United guy looking to offload his brand new stealth 4 years ago for like $150, and havent had any problems since. It is heavy though.

They have a couple of locations in MSP, CVG, IAH, DFW, ATL and MIA.

Crewoutfitters does loaners as well, I believe.

Just to reiterate... LuggageWorks Stealth 22", not the 737, and definitely NOT the 26". I will give you no end of grief if I see you with that monstrosity. If I can pack 10 days worth of clothes in a 22", just what are you packing for? Also, it doesn't stack in the closet well.

On the 22" don't get the computer front, as your flightcase will destroy your laptop (ask me how I know). Get the Aerocoast Lunchbox/laptop bag.

NG or not NG?

I dragged my $99 Costco bag for about 7 years and ruined it trying to replace the wheels.

I obsessed over a new bag for a few weeks and decided to go with Strongbags Vortex 2

It's a great bag! Everything is user-replaceable and all parts are available on their website.
It definitely heavier than my Costco bag, but probably slightly lighter than LuggageWorks.
Looks like a great bag. I've sent my bag, that I bought in 2006 from stop over store, in twice to get refurbished and fixed. Bag is very heavy with the metal frame. This may be my next bag though. Love my strong bag lunch cooler

??? You talking 737NG? I don't have the honor of flying that type. My point more in the Stealth 22 737 is that I don't believe you need it unless you work for a certain company that only flies 73s. If you are get a job with said company, you'll have enough cabbage to treat yourself to a new bag. Until then, your bag is the odd one out that doesn't stack well with others. Resistance is futile! You will be assimilated!

no!!! I meant the stealth 22 NG or stealth 22! Check my post just before yours (#52), one of them is some "new and improved" version... But sometimes new and improved means worse so I figured I'd ask

Ah. Never heard of an NG LW bag... Just the normal brick outhouse one. I took a run by http://www.luggageworks.com/ and there's no evidence of anything groundbreaking. There seems to be a "Stopover store" version, but I can't tell if it's any different...

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone would know a website that ships cheaply to New Zealand. I'm interested in the 22" Stealth. The cheapest I could find was pilotshop.com at an eye watering $109 for shipping.

Also I will be doing up to 10 day trips. Would the 22" be adequate or would you recommend the 26"? It will be checked in so no issues with the size.

Thanks for all your help.

I've always preferred non-avgeek bags such an Eagle Creek Tarmac 22" or REI 22" bag which I have now. Plenty of room doesn't weigh 100lbs when it's empty. If you take it non-revving across the planet it's easier to hit the carry on weight restrictions on certain airlines. Also the slightly bigger wheels make it easier to get around though my bags have never fit well in the overhead of the Mighty Deuce. My two pennies.
