Pilot Luggage

Does anyone have experience with the "Stealth Air"? I guess its a newer lighter version of the stealth but I was wondering if for an extra 30 bucks it would be worth it or just to spend that money on a lunchbox.

I've had one for a few months and like it. I haven't had any problems yet, but it only comes out about twice every 2/3 weeks and is in the cabin half the time, so I can't really speak for durability yet.

I've always preferred non-avgeek bags such an Eagle Creek Tarmac 22" or REI 22" bag which I have now. Plenty of room doesn't weigh 100lbs when it's empty. If you take it non-revving across the planet it's easier to hit the carry on weight restrictions on certain airlines. Also the slightly bigger wheels make it easier to get around though my bags have never fit well in the overhead of the Mighty Deuce. My two pennies.

How well do they hold up? I know you're not carrying a flight kit around now, but did they hold up to commuting?

They've held up well, no major worries with commuting. Obviously not meant to be as rebuildable as the avgeek bags but sturdy enough for me. I've only killed one in which the handle failed - of course the bag was warrantied though so no biggie.

They still making the bag you're using?

I think the REI verison has stopped for now or out of stock. Eagle Creek has this one...

...which has changed design over the years. The wifey scored me a returned model of the original which I loved so I'll go back to that when I destroy my REI bag one day ;)

I'd love nothing more than to ditch my LW bag one day, or get the plastic version, or get SOMETHING that would be lighter.

But unfortunately I've seen too many other bags explode on trips.

I like my costco bag. Plus, I dont look like some damn airline non rev pilot when I am sitting in first class

I'd rather look like a pilot in first class than look like a passenger when I am flying.

Ok, not really, but I do think there is such thing as professionalism and having a beat up, duct taped, $20 suitcase does not look professional.
