Pilot Luggage

When I worked ramp, I watched a guy get cut and he kicked the bag into the hold.

Survival of the fittest. People that would kick an inanimate object are the ones that get cut by said objects.

I have the 26 inch stealth and have for four years now.
The pros: Fits in the overhead of the CRJ.
Steel Frame.
Tuff, hardy fabric.

The cons: Only fits sideways in the overhead bin on just about every commercial airliner bin.
Said steel frame is heavy even when the bag is empty. Good if you are using it in the hotel room as a curl-bar.
Almost all of the zippers have fallen off or are broken.
I have to tighten all of the screws on it after every trip or they fall out.
The foam handle pad rips within the first week. You can purchase an additional one from luggage works but good
luck getting it back on to the handle. LW offers no support.

Really? I've heard they have pretty good support for their products (even if you have to buy a repair kit). A guy in my class said there are a few privateers who fix LW products for a more reasonable fee.

I've had great experience with LW. Bought my bag in 2007 and I still use it. Have replaced the rollers once, 6 months ago. The original handle foam didn't tear on me until about 2 years ago and 95% of it is still there. It's not even worth replacing that, yet. There is a small tear in the fabric on the top/fwd corner of the bag. My screws do fall out. I really need to get some Locktight. The bag is beat to all get out, but it works great. All the zippers work fine for me. I use every zipper (except one) everyday on every overnight. It's an expensive bag, and I thought the same thing when I was making 19/hour, but it's been 5+ years now and it's still going. I'm sure there are other high quality bags that will do just fine, but I still like this one. As of now, I will be replacing it with a similar model, whenever that needs to happen.

People give me crap for it, but I love it:

When I bought it, it came with a lifetime warranty on everything, now its changed a little but still made in the USA. Fits in a CR7/9 with no issues, rolls down the aisles also without hitting every seat. It takes a beating all the time, and it very light weight with the plastic back.

I HATE when people are too lazy to carry their bags down the aisle and they hit every single seat. Pick it up, hold it sideways, and tough it out for the 30 seconds it takes to get to the front of the plane.

I agree. Nothing like ruining your own bag in addition to adding wear to the seats. Even seen 1 person break a seat cover but yanking it off with their bag. But with this luggage, I don't have to. I can still pack for a 4 day and bring my laptop with me.

I dragged my $99 Costco bag for about 7 years and ruined it trying to replace the wheels.

I obsessed over a new bag for a few weeks and decided to go with Strongbags Vortex 2

It's a great bag! Everything is user-replaceable and all parts are available on their website.
It definitely heavier than my Costco bag, but probably slightly lighter than LuggageWorks.

They bags now come with a cover for the foam handle. Should help reduce tearing issues.

Luggage works, all the way. I bought mine to replace a Briggs & Riley u21G. Also good, and has a lifetime warranty, but needed something while they took 3 months to fix it.

LW is the better choice, you'll end up buying one eventually anyway.

The best part about my LW bag is that when I need some work done to it, I can take it to the Stopover store in DTW at the end of a trip and pick it up before my next one. Or at least that's been my experience so far.
