Pilot Killed on 2nd Leg of Round the World Flight

A Vietnamese woman and 767 pilot was trying to do a round the world solo flight and left from OSH Sunday. Appears to have crashed yesterday while starting the second leg out of an Indianapolis area field. Aircraft was a Lancair. Looks like she was pretty heavily involved in promoting aviation to Asian women.

Also looks like she was pretty active at OSH last week, if anyone here saw her.

I don’t get the drive to be the first (insert country/race) to do (insert thing). Who cares, honestly. It’s America. Pilots are black, brown, white, etc.

You don’t have to prove anything to anybody.

I think she was more interested in being famous as an influencer than she did setting records and being a pilot.

Reminds me a lot of tnflygirl. The aviation is secondary.

Is a 400hr 45 year old commercial pilot who had flown around the world once already somehow like a 7 year old in your mind?

She did have instructor certificates, a seaplane rating, a type in a wide body, and a phd in aeronautical engineering from a public ivy, so like a bunch of experiences and accomplishments that you don’t have.

Still, I can see how you’d compare her to a child. Maybe she’d be alive if she had paid for JetU.

What does any of this have anything to do with with anything I wrote?


A child cannot make decisions, the parent does. Her father got her killed.



And everything else you wrote is meaningless in the conversation. This was just another irrelevant attack, something new you’ve started doing. Knock yourself out, I couldn’t care less.





I compared to the Dubroff case because it takes a certain amount of hubris to do these kinds of feats. Hubris got them killed.

All of those qualifications don't necessarily make you a good pilot.

You’ve made your brand, unfortunately, about disruption of various topics and turning the spotlight on yourself.

People’s reaction to your saying anything ranging from innocent to blithely sardonic is a product of your branding you continue to reinforce.

Is hubris always a negative trait? I used to work on the fastest piston powered thing that had ever been built, it was owned by one man with a very specific vision and a lot of hubris. I'm not saying his seemingly unending devotion to achieving that goal helped advance society in any quantifiable measure, but he was a good leader and he had a dachshund named Fritz to remind him about taking that record every day. Hubris got us to the moon and back. It might seem out of fashion but aren't confidence and ambition the main ingredients for hubris?

Now that MOSAIC has opened up all the airplanes I love I want to lay this down now:

I want to be the first pilot with a cochlear implant. To fly upside down under the St Louis Arch. In a Waco Taperwing.

Wiley Post. Howard Hughes set a speed record. Ross Perot Jr first in a helicopter. Rutans Voyager (not solo but unrefueled). Steve Fossett (balloon and solo jet).
