I haven't posted a "ramp shots" thread since leaving my line service job at OQU nearly two years ago, but here's a few I've taken from the ramp at PVD since then. I've let my Flickr Pro account lapse (i.e. I was too cheap to renew), so I had to copy a few older ones from Facebook and the qaulity suffers as a result:
After packing the hangar at the end of the day.
Departures off of 34 roar right past our ramp.
Looking towards the Northeast Ramp, where the cargo and GA flights park. The 727 has sadly been phased out of PVD and been replaced with a 757 (which isn't completely bad)... The windows around the airport rattle just a little bit less at 9:00 PM these days.
PVD is the most convenient airport for the NFL teams to fly out of, and the charters park on our ramp. This Continental 757-300 brought in the Saints back in 2010.
Another view before getting the "move along sir" from airport ops.
The Patriots use a Delta 767-300, but will upgrade to a -400 around the playoffs.
Wiggins (FedEx Feeder) Cessna 208B Super Cargomaster cockpit... kind of like a big 172R.
The MS Jet Pull... various teams compete to see how far they can pull a 727.
I think a tug of war with the engines in reverse thrust would have been more entertaining.
One of my coworkers contemplates his next career move.
Air Force One crossing the threshold for 23.
Wishing I had better weather and lighting conditions, but still happy with the shots I got...
...and even happier that the Secret Service didn't consider me or my camera a threat to national security.
Parked on 34.
I made my way to near where the ARFF station is; it's nowhere near any main roads and somewhat of a secret... there was still a decent crowd there though. This was the best I could do through a chain link fence, and luckily the police wasn't around kicking people out.
One of these things is not like the other ones, one of these things doesn't belong...
This Gulfstream II was built in 1978, and about the only thing its Rolls Royce Spey engines are efficient at is converting Jet-A into noise.
