From what I could gather listening, Good Gate is what the pilots will say once they know their assigned gate is free and they can taxi into the gate. I Think
Doug, anyone else?????

Probably so. Each airline and each airport have their own local lingo they use.
You'll hear "Delta jet on fox, turn left, scenic route" in Chicago (not anymore), or "17 left, JAR" in Dallas or "8 right, loop" or "taxi via the inner, hold short of dixie" in Atlanta. None of that stuff is in the AIM, of course!
We've got a 'gate keeper' in Atlanta. It's a frequency that we call in-range to confirm the gate assignment that was given via ACARS on the in-range report. You can call in the air, but things change fast and are pretty dynamic so I generally call on the ground to confirm the gate. Something like "1119, confirming gate A19" and he'll reply "A19's a good gate" or "You're going to D35 now".
Otherwise, if there's a gate change, you didn't confirm your assignment and Atlanta's on a east-bound operation, you're going to be in for a very scenic tour of the ramp.
