PEPC Interview Questions Here

Hey,

Hoping someone may want to shed some light on the background check (hopefully detailed)!

Is there anyone that can give specifics on what exactly the backgorund check includes, questions asked, parts of your past that it specifically asks you about?

I appreciate all the details that you share.

Thanks a lot!

For terminal positions, you fill out SF85 which asks
"In the last 7 years, have you been arrested for, charged with, or convicted of any offense(s)? (Leave out traffic fines of less than $150.)

In the last 7 years, have you, or a company over which you exercised some control, filed for bankruptcy, been declared bankrupt, been subject to a tax lien, or had legal judgment rendered against you for a debt? If you answered "Yes," provide date of initial action and other information requested below.

Are you now over 180 days delinquent on any loan or financial obligation? Include loans or obligations funded or guaranteed by the Federal Government. "

There are other questions too, so look at the actual form below

SF85, for terminal:

SF86, for en-route:

Would an arrest (but no conviction) for assault be detrimental to my interview?

Not your interview per se, but you would have to disclose this on the SF85/86 (form for security clearance)

The FAA hands out tentative offers before you have to submit the SF85, so expect to receieve an offer and wait around nervously for the final offer letter.

You may be asked to fill out a statement with regards to this at the PEPC. I had to fill out a statement for something in my history. (statement being a couple pages of blank paper in which you describe the nature of the incident as well as hand in any associated paperwork you might have)

Thanks PM577,

I can definitely use that information.

Not sure if anyone else have any ideas or details on this specific topic but I would be glad to know if other thoughts do exist!

Thanks again peeps!

For the benefit of everyone:

Here are the general requirements for an OTS:
http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/headquarters_offices/ahr/jobs_careers/occupations/atc/path2/

The above link will also link you to the following:
Here are the particular medical requirements:
http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/headquarters_offices/ahr/jobs_careers/occupations/atc/medical/
Here are the particular security/background check requirements:
http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org...reers/occupations/atc/security_investigation/

Note that for background, the website states "
Patterns and/or combinations of incidents which lead to questions about your behavior and intent "

This is understandably vague. Does one incident constitute a pattern? Probably not, but the only way to find out is by applying and waiting on an FOL.

Lot of PEPC stuff to filter through, so feel free to PM me (or bash me for repeating already posted information).

Question: Do the PEPC's relate to your geo prefs / current location? That is, I live in Kansas City, and plan on listing KS/MO on my geo prefs. If I'm invited to a PEPC, will I be flying to LA? :)

It's quite possible...I got chosen for a "Terminal position in Utah" and I leave for Memphis via Atlanta in approximately 2 hours. You never know where you'll be chosen to go for a PEPC. You CAN always turn it down and go the NON-PEPC route...sometimes it's faster...sometimes it's not.

Can someone link a description to (or elaborate on) the non-PEPC route, please? Thanks :)

Hahaha... clever! :laff:

But in all seriousness, the $300 trip to OKC and back for the AT-SAT was one thing, but flight/rental/hotel for someplace across the US just isn't in my budget right now. In the event that's requested, I'd like to know some more about the non-PEPC option. Anyone?

(On that note...)
Oil Change: $18.75
Fuel: $212.48
Hotel: $47.38
Dinner: $6.00
Turnpike Fees: $20.00

Seeing well-qualified results: Priceless.

$212.48 for fuel? Gas or Diesel? I'm gettin' a COOL 12/mpg....(with a tail wind on a good day) LOL

400 miles each way, plus about 50 for stops, driving around OKC, etc....
Gas averaged about $3.95 that week (week of the 4th)
212.48/3.95=53.79gal
850mi/53.79gal= 15.80avg MPG in my '05 Tacoma 6-speed.

Here's the kicker: The week after I got back, I found out that the '05 models were supposed to run premium only, especially with the way I've got my intake wide open (24v motor)... difference of 4-5mpg. Doh? Yeah. Doh.

So, figure I'd done it right... 850mi/20mpg (CORRECT avg) = 42.5gal, 42.5gal@$4.15/gal
=$176.36.... Ouch.

Anyway, does someone have a link to that non-PEPC route yet?

Thanks! And since we're on the interview questions (I hijacked the thread, sorry guys)...

Any recommendations on an actual (CURRENT) career info publication for ATC? I'm hearing more and more about tech-specific questions being thrown at the interviews, but even more importantly, I want to absorb as much about this career as I can before I even - hopefully - start training.
