PAX to Cargo

Just a quick question.
Can a commercial airliner that was originally in PAX configuration and later converted to a cargo configuration be converted back to a PAX configuration?
Thanks in Advanced

Yes

The Boeing 737 and 727's both had this setup in some models. Aloha did it in there 737's. Pax by day and cargo by night. It only takes a couple hours to convert them.

Our 727's have several configurations depending on what we are doing. PAX/CARGO, Horses, ULD CARGO, or Military floor for bulk cargo.

Mind you the "couple of hours to convert them" was on -QC models, designed for that sort of thing.

To bring say a converted UPS 727 to passenger use would be much more than a couple of hours. probably a couple of months

Depends on how it's configured. UPS actually experemented with using some of their airplanes for pax flying on weekends in the late 1990s-2000 time frame. Can't remember the airframes, but it was out of ATL. I think it lasted for about a year, so it must not have been cost effective.

It was on 727s. I think the interiors were palletized. I remember them flying out of IND too. Mainly to the cruise ships.

Cayman Airways does this alot with their 732's Ive heard that it only takes half an hour or so to fully remove the seats, release the larger door pod, and put locks on the floor.

Both are the same aircraft, if you look closely in the pax pic, you can see the edges of the cargo door opening!
