Passenger left on plane

Years ago, reportedly a 727 took off and airborne the FE heard a knock on the door. He opened it slightly and a pax said, "Can we get some coffee?" The FE explained that was the job of the FAs and just ask them. The pax said, "...but there are none on board." The cockpit crew had somehow missed the FAs and they got airborne without a cabin crew.

Absolutely the crew should have been more thorough in making sure everybody was off the plane. That being said, I really wish people would actually be accountable for their actions. Big freakin deal, you were sleeping on an airplane in the middle of the night. Its not like the airplane was minutes from being scrapped at the bone yard. Worst case scenario, you have to open a door and go find someone.

Exactly. Why does everyone think that they're entitled to money because they were inconvenienced. Man up (or in this case, put on your big girl panties), take some responsibility, and get over it.

Well i think she actually should be compensated by the airline, but not in a civil suit!

I'd say a couple round trip tickets for saying "oops" would be fair.
 
As a result of this....new TSA directive!

TSA will inspect every cabin and cargo area after each and every flight to ensure no one is left behind.

Had this been a terrrrrrrrrst who knew how to fuel, push, start, takeoff and fly the damn thing........it could have been bad!

Now, had she gotten into the cockpit and somehow gotten onto the radio to call for help, ya'll think she woulda gotten into some trouble?

I guess if she could have figured out the radio, she could have opened the door.
 
I agree the airline should have some liability in this matter, as it is procedure to ensure the a/c is clear of people before the crew departs the a/c.

However, I find a charge of "False Imprisonment" to be a stretch. No one forced her to stay on the plane. No one physically prevented her from opening an exit and getting out.

I thought the false imprisonment was silly as well. She was not held against her will. She could have gotten up and opened the door to get out at any point (at least I think she could). They didn't find here banging on the door trying to get out.
Really, the whole thing was. How is sleeping on a plane going to cause emotional distress. She was SLEEPING. Come on now!

I *think* the false imprisonment stuff was from the TSA guys held her for questioning after she got off the plane. At least that was how I read the article.

Now, I didn't think of that! Guess if you try to fall asleep on a plane, they should wake you up, so you don't have "emotional distress" from bad dreams. ;)
 
This country is way to sue happy. She is clueless her self as to why she deserves money for this. Bet the lawyer is happy though, gonna get paid either way....
 
I've been (potentially) slighted! MONEY MONEY MONEY!

You now, I ordered a pizza once and they baked it with the basil topping rather than applying the basil after baking it and I probably should have sued.

How do you get comfortable enough to sleep that long on an RJ? :dunno: (assuming it's an RJ considering it's a regional)

If i can sleep that good on one of those things i might actually sue them for waking me up. That's some quality sleep there.
 
I would like over three times the cabin crews annual salary for three or four undistubed hours of sleep. How many regional pilots get that salary in a year. Nevertheless, three or four undisturbed hours of sleep.

OMG, I was all set to use the big girl panties line but decided to read all the posts first! Ah, great minds and all that.....

She's an adult with a cell phone. While I'm not exonerating the airline for not checking the a/c after the flight, she was obviously comfy enough to sleep through landing, deplaning etc. When she awoke 4 friggin' hours later, she should have called someone, gotten the airline's apology and some compensation (tickets), and gone on with her life. She and her ambulance-chaser should be ashamed to have filed for monetary damages. Responsible adult? I think not.
C'mon Ginger, it's not like you called and were THEN ignored for 4 hours. sheesh. I wish I could sleep on a plane for 4 hours! :)
