Passed ATP / Part 135 initial checkride this morning

Got it done this morning in one of Cape Air's Cessna 402s.

What a feeling. Holding an ATP has been a goal of mine for a couple years. Hard to believe I finally did it.

This was also my first checkride in the 135 / airline world. Really put to rest those little fears in the back of my mind that I'd be good enough to hack it outside of Part 91 flying.

Many kudos to the Cape Air training department. They took me on as a barely instrument-current, 45 hour multi-engine pilot, and whipped me into shape over the course of one month and 18 hours of flying. I feel legitimately proficient, too. This checkride was conducted by a company check airman, as well as a DPE in back, and it definitely wasn't a quick "rubber stamp" checkride.

Can't wait to get through IOE and get out on the line now!

Dude, way to go! Looking forward to hearing how life on the line goes for ya!

Great feeling, isnt it?

Now you get to look forward to doing it again every 6 months!

Congratulations!! I just started new hire training at Cape Air this morning.

So you were one of those dorky-looking white-shirted guys in the conference room this morning! :D Haha...just kidding, we've all been through it on picture day.

I've only been with the company for six weeks and seen it from the training side, but they've treated me very well. Enjoy your time here.

Also, feel free to PM me your cell number if you want to hang out. Not sure how long I'll be in town yet, but it's always good to meet up and hang out if they don't work me too hard during IOE!

You liking the plane?

Yeah, seems like a good airframe. I dunno. It's a piston twin. Flies kinda like every other piston twin I've ever flown. Step on the rudder after an engine quits, pitch for blue line, and hope for the best ;)

But seriously, my feelings are neutral towards it. Nothing spectacular, but nothing terrible either.

Congrats! you going to be based in the Caribbean?

That's what I'm hoping for. Listed all the Caribbean bases as the top choices in my bid submitted today. I'm kinda doubtful it'll happen, as I think more senior pilots have already filled most of the slots by this point in the season, but you never know.

I'll find out Monday afternoon where I'll be going.
