Part 91 "Reimbursement Agreement", and the legality thereof.

So.
The (soon-to-be-ex) boss called today, confirmed my departure and exit meeting date, and brought up repayment.

We then had another long conversation about industry standards and practices (especially prorating) concerning training agreements. He again explained why he had one as a requirement. I again stated what, in my opinion, he could do to keep people without an entrapping agreement. It was a thought out, polite and reasonable discussion.

We discussed both places I've been hired this year: One had a reasonable training agreement and one has none at all, even though the types are considerably more expensive.
To make a long story short, we negotiated a prorated amount that's less than 1/3 of the cost of recurrent.
I hate to pay anything, but I did sign an agreement and doing it this way means everyone leaves the table satisfied.

I'm hoping these discussions may have at least informed him of how out of sync his idea of acceptable is, and how hard it'll make finding someone new. If nothing else, I can say I did everything I could to change his mind.
