We have anywhere from new to three year old 172SP's at riddle. 16 of the newest ones they are receiving this summer will be G1000. Its just flat out cost more to maintain them. I really dont find $119 to be that outragous so the equipment they have in them. (Im not bragging BTW, im just using this for the rate/hr info) *end disclaimer*
On that note I wish riddle had some R's to ease the cost more...
ERAU did have R's, although they had the 180 HP motors in them.
5 years ago, ERAU in DAB was charging $65, yes sixty-five dollars per hour for their (new) 172's. These were the R's (w/ 180 hp) and SP's with GPS, etc. etc. The next year they went up to $80, then $105.
Now they are charging $119? WOW. MAPD, a pilot mill, charges $136/hr for their '91 or newer Bonanza's and $30/hr for instruction. Oh, they aren't your typical "trainer" either - 300 hp, 6-seat, HP and complex a/c. Most have HSI's.
I think you're getting ripped, but that's just me.
Riddle tuiton: $ 12,210 per semester = $24,410 per year. In 2003, when I graduated, I paid about $14,000 per YEAR. Still overrated, but at least within the realm of "reasonable" IMO.
San Juan Community College Tution = $420/semester, or $840 per YEAR. LOL!!!
