Part 135 flight time limitations

I fly for a 135 commuter operation which is also authorized for on-demand operations.
My understanding from the company is for scheduled operations the maximum flight time is 8 hours, even though we are a two pilot crew. 135.265 is clear up to the portion about two pilot crews:

135.265(a)(5) says total flight time in all commercial flying cannot exceed "8 hours between required rest periods "

Is that even English ? Is it saying 8 hours is the absolute minimum rest even though the reg originally refers to flight time amounts ?

I ask becuase recently we were asked by operations to accept another leg on to our day (non scheduled I presume since it would have altered our flight schedule) that would've put us over 8 hours. Is this permissible for a two pilot crew or not (assuming we could meet the rest requirements)?

The reg seems clear as mud on this...or maybe that's because I don't have a law degree.

You say you're 135 commuter, do you have the opspec to use 135.265 or 135.267 for rest rules?

Our Opspec doesn't reference crew duty times. I found opspec A003: For our Aircraft, Part 135 commuter AND on-demand, ifr and vfr. Therefore both types of rest rules should apply?

IIRC, a crew of 2 can go 10?

This is what I've heard too, but where is it spelled out?

What type of aircraft? Are you a required SIC or a "give the pax a warm fuzzy" sic? Alot glance over 135.151(a) if truly required by the operation (ie >8 planned flight time).

Our operation is 135 commuter IFR , which requires an SIC. We are approved for an autopilot in lieu of an SIC because the airplane is approved for single pilot ops , but the GOM and Opspec clearly state the SIC requirement as the default status.
Seems like even when changes occur to the schedule it's considered scheduled flight time and not switching to on demand charter. In 135.265, as quoted above , a two pilot crew must be in compliance with rest rules, but are eligible for more flying within a 24 hour period than a single pilot crew (which is a hard and fast 8 period). I spoke with our SOC manager and A two pilot crew cannot fly more than 8 consecutive hours without rest and that's what I was wondering/ attempting to verify on here.
