Opportunity presented.. Need info from the pros

Hi all, newb here. I figured it best to come right to the source and try to obtain some information before I spend further time exploring this career opportunity.

I was presented with an opportunity to interview with an aircraft sales company. They sale gulfstreams to boeings. I met someone through my current position in luxury sales and was invited to meet with the company head.

Of course, being in sales and knowing how much aircraft cost, I am intrigued to say the least. However, I have no idea how the pay structure works and how the industry works.

If anyone in A/C Sales can share your wisdom and what you know about the industry; as well as what to expect to make and obstacles faced, that would be excellent.

I am very interested, but would like to know a little more of what to expect before heading further.

Thanks all!

I don't know anything about aircraft sales and suspect a lot varies by company, but just as a general observation an interview is two sided. They're interviewing you but you're also interviewing them. Your questions are perfectly appropriate for the interview itself and the answers will be straight from the horses mouth. So go, meet, ask and then you'll have a decision to make.

Very good point, thank you for the reply and lending me your time. I am certainly compiling a list of questions to ask come the interview.

It's a fun business to be in, like with anything in aviation lot's of great people but also a healthy dose of companies/individuals you need to steer clear of.

PM me, I can more than likely give you the low down on them.

Do you have any kind of background in aviation? You don't mention if you hold a pilot certificate or maintenance tech or something related to the field.

The big questions on my mind would be a) do they expect you to bring prospects/leads to the table (very, very likely on big-ticket stuff like this) or would they feed you leads that you have to qualify and engage and b) what does their proposed compensation plan look like against an attainable quota.

Mtts422, thank you for offering to assist further. I am new to the forums and want to make sure I am using the correct feature. To Private message, is it the post message or start conversation feature on your profile?

KillBilly, I do not bring an aviation side to the table. I bring strong sales and networking skills. I am interested to hear what they're idea for me will be. I would imagine it to be a young, aggressive salesman who would be qualifying leads and moving units.

Thanks everyone!

Try start conversation.
That's the most quality input I have. Otherwise, I've only met a few a/c sales people that weren't used car salesmen that drove cars they couldn't afford for the image and had spray on tans. If you feel some sleeze than my advice would be it is probably sleeze.
An alternative would be to get involved with an aircraft management/charter company that could use your sales prowess to get owners into airplanes or get wealthy people into charter.
