Online firc

I need some help. My CFI expires 12/31/12. Has anyone used
the Gleim online firc? If so, how was it? Any suggestions
would be helpful.

Never used Gleim. I've used American Flyers online FIRC and it was fine. I'd imagine they're all about the same.

I use American Flyers. They have a program where you pay once and renew free for life. I have used them for my past four renewals and it has always worked well for me.

I've done both American Flyers and Gleim. They are both the same. Cheaper to do American flyers though since it's free renewals for life.

I've used Gleim for the last few. If you have a short attention span my advise would be to do the flight school security section first!

I did, to get my AGI currency endorsement and to prep for the CFI. I thought it was pretty darn decent.

They're all about the same, barring cost and American flyers renewal for life benefit. There are numerous threads on this topic you can peruse with the search function - upper right of the page. Type CFI renewal.

I like Gliem. I got phone calls three times asking how I liked the service and what could be done to improve.

For 100 dollars a year it makes me feels special :)

I've done gleim, asa and american flyers. Without a doubt American Flyers is the way to go!
I did Gleim and AF so far. AF is the best value and really was much different than Gleim. Gleim customer service is great but not $100/ 2yrs great.

My CFI expires on 12/31/12 too. I just finished the Gleim FIRC 2 weeks ago. I liked it a lot, it was very thorough and easy to use. This was my first time completing an FIRC so unfortunately I don't have anything to compare it to.

I've been happily using Gleim for years. Will probably again, although I've been thinking about AF. Wish they had a sample session!

Haven't done AF so can't compare. The AF one-time cost sounds great but I've always liked Gleim materials and refer to them after the course is over.

Thanks for the help. I've been doing the in-person AOPA firc for years. I'm 50 years old and probably the youngest guy there. It's like a reunion of the same people every two years. I'm going with Geim and I'll post my opinion when completed.

I've used Gleim for the last 6 years. Quick and relatively painless. Takes me two or three afternoons to get it done.

I'd try AF too, but since my company pays for it I'm unmotivated to try something new.

How long did the Gleim take to complete? No issue, just curious.
As fast as I want it to. It complains when you go too fast (there's apparently something in the rules/guidance about the hours it's supposed to take) but doesn't really do anything about it (so far).

What's been typical for me is doing it over lunch breaks at work over the course of a few days.

My first was AOPA live and I met some folks who became long-term friends. Not what I'm moving, I'd really like to take another live one and meet new people but the time and locations don't work out.
