On Terminal Leave :)

Not giving soldiers/airmen/sailors/marines their terminal leave is bush-league. I've had no less than 6 of my 25 soldiers stop-lossed for this current deployment. I can understand the stop loss, but under almost ANY circumstance can I see not allowing them something that they have earned through hard work. This is especially true for stop-lossed soldiers. I have specific examples of soldiers stop-lossed and still perform exceptionally, despite their situation. After already going through 8 months of this deployment, and likely looking at 15 months total now, its something that leaders at all levels have to fight for.

Like Fly4Pay said, its about takin' care of subordinates and giving them everything that they can get from the Army (I know I want it for myself). I sincerely appreciate their service, they make a young officer look like a really smart guy. They also deserve our best efforts.

whoa. they are stop losing people for 15 month deployments? Man alive I feel so blessed to even get terminal leave.

Started terminal leave this past Saturday. . . w00t

Already started the VONAPP through the VA, but I was wondering. . . already got some guidance from USMC-SGT about it but . . . when you guys are applying to start you Education benefits from the VA, do you send a copy of your DD 214 worksheet or wait until you get the actual 214 in the mail in a month to two months AFTER you have seperated?

Congrats to all on the terminal leave and thanks for the service. I'll never forget going on terminal (AF 94-98). Not only was I leaving Korea after a year, but I was coming home a civilian. Whether or not you had a good experience, you will look back in a few years and realize you did.

Surreal, do what ever you have to do to get as many copies of that DD214. Its been 9 years since I got out and you'll be suprised how many things you'll need it for. I am pretty sure they mailed me my final one too, but I can't remember. Just keep it in a safe spot. Treat it like your Passport or Social Security Card.

Thanks, no matter what my comments are in regards to world relations here on JC, my time spent in the Air Force was a great experience . . . I'm a rather humble person about my professional work, so I really don't brag or boast about my achievements, except maybe just this one time.

This past February I was honored by Air Combat Command and was selected as their #1 Outstanding Weather Airmen of the Year for CY 2006.

I'm glad my hard work and dedication to the job netted me such an award, one that'll stay with me for many years to come.

So - like I said, I won't have to worry about looking back and seeing I had a good time, I know I did. :)

As for the VONAPP stuff, I called the regional VA office in Atlanta a few days ago and they just needed verification that I was seperating since the ESO (Education Service Officer's) signature would not be on my form. So, I mailed them a copy of my orders as well.

Just wanted to gloat that I'm finally on terminal leave!!!

Terminal Leave = that awkward time period when you still think you have to put the hat back on your head each time you leave a building!:banghead:

Best of luck with your training - and enjoy the break. You TOTALLY deserve it!

Hmmm...

I started terminal on Tuesday... 15 years gone by... where have the years gone?

Can't relax yet though... I gotta find myself a jobby job!

But, the goatee is a growin'! :rawk:

Congrats!!! Now the difficult decision of what to put on each morning after waking up. Damn I miss the green bag.
