Re: OMG ... SDL just DOESN\'T get it ...

Yes, most of the people complaining about the noise are whiners. However, pilots should at least consider their complaints. Why not do your touch and gos at another airport, and why not shoot your practice approaches to a higher MDA on the chart? There is no reason to go flying over the houses south of the airport at 500 agl with the props full forward. Unless you have business there I would stay away from that airport. Same goes for the military. Yes, I have great respect for the military, but why not fuel stop at IWA? Was there some reason they HAD to go to SDL?

Yes, a majority of the complaints are whiners, IMO. If there are complaints of aircraft violating altitudes, etc, then action should be taken. I suppose planes could do practice approaches to higher MDAs, but I also think most residents seeing a plane flying over their house, regardless of altitude, will still complain for the sake of pushing their agenda against the airport. I think that pilots could give major concessions, and that would never be enough. At the same time, any concession given can never be gotten back.....almost like the whole argument of giving up constitutional rights for security, etc. The other problem is, how does one define who does and who doesn't have business there? IMO, no one would agree on a definition or criteria for that. Would training or utilizing the pattern or IAPs constitute business? Would doing the same, if someone lands and buys 100LL? All things that, IMO, would need to be considered.
I agree that there's some legit complaints amongst the plethora of whining.
