Old School ORD

Anyone here old enough flying-wise to remember when ORD had named taxiways, rather than the standard alphanumeric system? Taxiways named Old/New Scenic, Stub, Bridge, Lake Shore, Bypass, Outer/Inner Circular, North-south, etc.

It was always quite amusing to listen to the crew who was brand new to ORD stumble around and be beat up by ground...

That is why they call it the Scenic Pad. I had no clue.

I know all but NC.
 
What's the "Penalty Box"? I really don't know. :confused:

Its a holding pad located in ORD, used for when your gate is occupied or not ready for what ever reason. Just a place to put you while you wait.

Next time ORD Ground tells us to go to the penalty box, I'm going to say," over to the ATM machine".
 
I knew I was forgetting one, the NE roundabout to the IL ANG ramp, the Air Force Scenic.
