Oh Unitemirates I

As I said 2 yrs ago and I’ll say it again, after the multiple rounds of PSP and billions in airline loans, I don’t wanna hear a big 3 pilot complain about the ME3 ever again. :)
maybe I thought you were smarter than you really are. No matter how many times you keep deflecting you dig yourself a larger hole

Oh…and FYI

Conpare that to the US airline bailouts. It pails in comparison. And Group is more than just the airline.

Like I said, you got paid to sit home from taxpayer money. ANY other country, you’d be furloughed.

That was more a question, but something that I thought I'd heard from my UAL friends at one point. I believe what I heard only applied to same seat, i.e. 777 FO can only bid other 777 FO base or 787 FO, and is unable to bid 737/320/756 FO. But doesn't mean one couldn't upgrade from 777 FO to 737 CA for example, if I understood correctly. Could totally be wrong about all of that though
there are seat/equipment freezes but you can bid up a pay band or upgrade whenever
a new hire on the 777/787 would be stuck on it for 2 years as thats the highest band in the right seat. they would not be able to move between 777 or 787 as those are considered 'lateral' like moving from the 737 to 320. they could however upgrade

Wait so a United newhire who gets a 777 or 787 is stuck on that fleet as FO until he can upgrade to CA on a smaller equipment?!

new hires are locked for 2 years. if you get 737 or 320 in initial you can bid up to the 756 or 777/787 at any time, or upgrade on whatever you can hold. you would have to wait the 2 years to go between the 737FO or 320FO

Ok, so you are only locked for 2 yrs to go lower FO. Makes sense.

Just so we are clear then your grievances are with the government trying to avoid mass layoffs nationwide, and you support massive layoffs. Which is fine, I just want to make sure we clear this up. Your gripe isn’t with the airlines, it’s the government and payroll money to prevent the economy from collapsing more than it did. That’s quite a bit different than bailout money as you continue to label it. And why leave it at the big 3? Which airline the US didn’t take money to keep staff getting paid?

I really enjoy your mental gymnastics around this topic and your response to Emirates receiving no money from their government. Keep it up!! I am excited for the next event!!

All the above. Post 9/11 loan, allowing mega mergers, and massive PSP and Covid loans.

I was for round 1 in March 2020. We had no idea how bad it would be. But by October, we knew it would be fine. Round 2 PSP was unnecessary. Biden’s round 3 in March this year was criminal.

“Payroll money to prevent collapsing”

Dont be dramatic. Airline crews furloughed would hardly be a blip on the radar.

Bottom line….

No other country in the world spent the billions that the United States did on PSP and loans to keep the airlines not only afloat, but 100% employees employed.

The PSP only applied to airline crews? The broad application of PSP nationwide was to prevent unemployment from hitting all time records and as I peel back the onion of your posts you agree with it!! WTF! Lol. Sure overdoing it is a valid concern but that wasn’t what you were saying. You said Emirates has never taken government money since 2014 then back pedaled and kept saying payroll money is bailout money.

100% of the employees did not stay employed either. But….You’re ok with an Emirates billions in loans but having a total panic attack on the forums about US airline loans? Not all the airlines even took the loans outside payroll support, I’m sure you’ve lost sleep that your top hated airline didn’t. But didn’t Alaska?

I mean we are talking about loans. You know the thing that you pay back to the taxpayer with interest? Did you react this way about TARP too?

This is a pissing match going nowhere. Bottom line, we in the US have zero leg to stand on when it comes to “government support” for our airlines. Those who live in a glass mansion shouldn’t throw stones.
