Lol… I was thinking of her in this conversation. At one end of the spectrum you have grizzled vets who were flying around all sorts of garbage just to get the “thanks but no thanks” for lack of experience just to fly a clapped out dc-9. At the other end you have this new gen. Show up, get the min hours, proceed to regional CRJ900/E175 FO, go to the right conference and get the keys to your new 787 and get your Igram going.

I suspect they’ll find out what concessions, furloughs, and downgrades feel like real soon. Be glad these “influencers“ are the cushion for all of you on the bottom of the list.

It is curious how jr the CA seat goes nowadays. Many friends of mine are upgrading but were just told at the beginning of the pandemic they’d be cut (UAL especially).

I’m not sure they will. I’m sure you’ll disagree with me, but I don’t know that we’ll see furloughs again at the Legacies. The union has done a great job of casting pilots as “essential”. Add that to the delays and cancellations we saw this summer due to the “pilot shortage,” and the general public won’t balk at bailouts if they are told it means convenience for them.

The public has already had their fill of bailouts. Ain’t gonna happen. Nor should it.

I was and still am shocked by the generosity of the bailouts during the Pandemic. That's not how we usually do things. I don't see anything like that ever happening again, especially since inflation has been so high since then, there's no way future Congresses and Presidents will want to risk being left holding the bag for another bout of high inflation.

, but I don’t know that we’ll see furloughs again at the Legacies.

I remember hearing that before the Pandemic! Maybe next downturn it will finally come true!

Just an observation...

For someone who decries social media and says he's glad that he doesn't own an account on any of the popular SM sites. You sure seem to know who all the popular sm influencers are. Besides Swayne, you're posting all the links to em here in this thread. Geez.

I said it back in 2020 once we were bailed out, and I can say it again: “I better not hear any American pilot complain about the ME3 after 3 rounds of bailouts and PSP.”
Yeah because money given for payroll only to prevent massive layoffs nationwide is completely the same thing as state owned airlines that undercut routes and subsidize everything through their government. What a strong and educated comment to make!!

I don’t. I as trying to find the Instagram of that one pilot about the ode to soon-to-be-furlough pilots and the rap intro to Freek-A-Leek. Somehow she came up at the top result.

And the only reason I know of him is because someone started a thread on APC of his Instagram.

Fake news, offered without any proof. Emirates ran a third party European country firm to audit their books. Clean.

And even if your assertion was true, how about we look at net totality in terms of PSP and airline loans since 9/11? It’s in the order of BILLIONS.

Face it, we accuse the ME3 of unfair govt help but we are the biggest prima dona pilots in the world and the first to go cry to daddy government.

I’m sorry what is fake news?

I mean in defense of whatever is going on over at United right now, isn't bidding into 777/787 kinda a bad idea if you are junior? The whole not allowed to "downgrade" part? So maybe she just took the first opportunity and doesn't care about the QOL ramifications, unlike potentially some of her peers.

What do you mean they aren’t able to downgrade? Like ever?

I think you’ve been ranting so long you don’t even know what your point is because you’re again comparing apples and oranges. I know you’re smart enough to know the difference between payroll money and government owned airlines

Show your work that the govt of Emirates backed them up, say, 2015-present.

When they formed, yes they had government backing. But at least since I applied to them in 2011, they don’t take govt assistance.

And REGARDLESS. The idea is that the govt backs them up, well, guess what. The govt backs up US airlines at the most important times when needed. Whereas the rest of the world furloughs pilots and says goodbye.

Weren’t you UNA for Covid? You’d be on the streets from Delta if it wasn’t for the PSP. You basically got a paid vacation to stay home. Emirates guys? Bye Felicia!

As I said 2 yrs ago and I’ll say it again, after the multiple rounds of PSP and billions in airline loans, I don’t wanna hear a big 3 pilot complain about the ME3 ever again. :)

That was more a question, but something that I thought I'd heard from my UAL friends at one point. I believe what I heard only applied to same seat, i.e. 777 FO can only bid other 777 FO base or 787 FO, and is unable to bid 737/320/756 FO. But doesn't mean one couldn't upgrade from 777 FO to 737 CA for example, if I understood correctly. Could totally be wrong about all of that though
