Well, I mean no offense. But the mermaid is a white girl with red hair. That’s always been her historically speaking. Now you can go woke and cast Beyonce for all I care. I’m just not gonna watch woke Disney stuff.
That’s said, this should be telling:
Walt Disney Studios posted the trailer to its YouTube channel on Friday and it quickly racked up millions of views, but the company was forced to disable the dislike button after receiving 1.5 million thumbs-downs in just two days.
The audience is speaking and they don’t sound happy. Disabling the thumbs down icon isn’t really a solution. And you can be sure, this will only be a one way re-casting. Historically white to black or other minorities because it’s the woke thing to do. You’ll never see a black character portrayed by a white person. That would be racism. But this isn’t racism, it’s inclusive and forward thinking.
Well, first people are getting bent out of shape about a make believe creature. But the bible went woke way before Disney with white blue eyed Jesus. In the middle East. Or how all the apostles are white. There are no white people in the bible. But I don't see you, an Arab or anyone mad about a black mermaid also upset about Michelangelo's cousin that he was in love with.
