Oh Unitemirates I

Wife wanted to take her once-every-4-yrs trip to the home country. Guess what our options are from the United States?

Emirates
Qatar
Etihad
Turkish

There is no US airline (or even a western airline) that goes to the city that I was born. We are limited to only those 4 carriers. So excuse me if I say I don't care about the big 3 legacy carriers. They do not serve us.

Were you not born in a city that would be worth it for an American based airline to fly to?

Apparently not. I wasn’t born in the capital city, but the capital is the only city in that country with western airline service. British Airways and Virgin Atlantic.

So seriously, what’s the deal? Is US3 and ME3 ear not a thing anymore?

ME3 are Govt backed airlines!

Yeah right.

2020 - pandemic comes and half the ME3 pilots get shown the door.

2020 in America - the government backs the airlines and issues the biggest bailout in history. Taxpayers pay for PSP and billions in airline loans that keeps EVERY major airline pilot employed, sitting home collecting a nice salary. All while the rest of the world faced pilot furloughs as airlines parked planes.

I’ve heard every excuse in the book. Just watch, first defensive argument: “Covid was an exception! ME3 got everyday regular government support!” Then you point to post 9/11 airline stabilization act that provided loans, same argument.

Ignore the big 3 ALPA chest thumpers. FACT. The United States government has helped our airlines in far greater monetary values. I said it back in 2020 once we were bailed out, and I can say it again: “I better not hear any American pilot complain about the ME3 after 3 rounds of bailouts and PSP.”

I remember when Airbus was hated on this board because they received government subsidies and didn’t play fair. Now, everyone is an Airbus fanboy. The Airbus certainly isn’t my favorite birds to fly, it’s average. Prefer others.

Irony: Both the current and previous United CEOs made statements in the past about the unethical nature of Emirates, and how they are propped up entirely by the government. They campaigned to make sure US Officials didn’t give them easy access to US markets. And now they are a code-share partner? What changed? And whose pockets are getting lined?

“That’s evidence that they are not focused on profitability. They are just focused on flying the airplane somewhere and having the government subsidize it.” -United CEO Scott Kirby

“Those airlines aren’t airlines. They’re international branding vehicles for their countries.” -Former United CEO Oscar Munoz

I'm going to call you Sebastian, the black crab from the new Lil' Mermaid movie. Because you've obviously been living under a rock.
Well I don't follow his InstaFBchat account. I only catch his videos when someone mentions them. I honestly had no clue.

What's wrong with calling me Sebastian, the red crab from the original Lil' Mermaid movie?

Because a certain segment of the population is up in arms about a black mermaid.

Well, I mean no offense. But the mermaid is a white girl with red hair. That’s always been her historically speaking. Now you can go woke and cast Beyonce for all I care. I’m just not gonna watch woke Disney stuff.

That’s said, this should be telling:

Walt Disney Studios posted the trailer to its YouTube channel on Friday and it quickly racked up millions of views, but the company was forced to disable the dislike button after receiving 1.5 million thumbs-downs in just two days.

The audience is speaking and they don’t sound happy. Disabling the thumbs down icon isn’t really a solution. And you can be sure, this will only be a one way re-casting. Historically white to black or other minorities because it’s the woke thing to do. You’ll never see a black character portrayed by a white person. That would be racism. But this isn’t racism, it’s inclusive and forward thinking.
