You sure are big on trying to control what private companies can do lately.
Publicly held/traded companies, not private.
Of course they don’t have to say anything. But they do. Why do you think that might be?
Enter the wokeness argument. Seemingly because people connect to that thinking? Like how Derg said in his years of cross divisional work, not once did politics come up. Similarly, what does an airline flying around A to B have to make statements on policing in America and the GF case? It's entirely two separate entities and topics.
There it is. You simply feel like a victim because companies have figured out that most of their customers don’t agree with you.
Try this: stop complaining and don’t spend money on Delta. I don’t tell the mypillow guy to shut up...I have no problem with him running his mouth because it lets everyone know he’s a seditious •wit. So I don’t buy his crappy pillows, but other seditious •wits will. That’s how the free market works.
But it's not that. I choose Spirit for seeing family nonstop from LAX-DTW simply from a pricing perspective. If Delta was cheaper on that route (they never are) I would choose them. I wouldn't refuse Delta for their politics. See the difference? I'm responding as a consumer based on what works for me in terms of pricing.
Another example. Yeah yeah Sbarros is the best, but every Friday night at our house is pizza night for the kids and we get Papa Johns. That's been the tradition for years (assuming I'm off Friday). Years ago Papa Johns himself (John Schnatter) complained about football, kneeling, and in this rant he used the n-word. Now that is repulsive and a racist thing to say, and in the end he was forced to resign and is no longer in that role. Even AFTER that, there were many people who refused to to ever again buy or eat PPJ. Why? He got punished and was removed from his role. I'm not gonna stop eating this pizza because of that. And people who DO decide to stop eating at a place like ChikfilA because the owner was conservative and they suppported conservative ideas? Well these are the people who can't separate their own politics with every day life stuff. That ain't healthy. And that fault lies entirely on the individual.
And now companies are afraid if they don't proactively step up and take a stance ahead of time, they may lose customers. Cool, level headed people look past that noise and buy/book the product that works for them in terms of pricing, schedule, etc. If you can't separate your politics inside your head, and force that to make decisions on companies, then perhaps the problem is you (the customer). Not the company.
It is wokeness. Look at the dentist in Minnie who got death threats and lost MANY customers because.... wait for it.... the guy went on a hunt in Africa. (Something my father has done too, btw). Except the dentist went for large cats. Nevermind he did everything legally. Paid for all permits required and filled out all the legal paperwork. But some animal huggers had a problem with it and lo behold here we are now. Plastered him online social media, twitter, and trashed him. Put threatening notes on his office door. Luckily for my father, he went in the 90s before there was social media, facebook, instacrap, and the general need for "look at me!" It was interesting, he talked about how after hunting, nothing really went to waste. The locals ate the meat as food, the skin covering was used by the locals, and he paid big money to have the head skeleton/horns mounted and shipped out to the US. It was a win-win for the hunter and the locals.
