Oh Delta XLIV

Are you serious. The inventors of the cockpit SLIDING TRAY and guys are putting their coffees over the MCP and ECU?

Pure stupidity. And that leads to a stupid rule, banning all drinks from the flight deck. Wow:eek:

Jumpin' Jehova, Lear made that mistake 40 years ago, and -even with dudes like Bob Hoover flying them- recognized and fixed it. You'd think engineers might study previous design flaws before reinventing them for the very 3rd or 4th time. Especially given there aren't that many Bob Hoovers around anymore.

I don’t get it. I think drinking coffee in the flight deck is a fine art. It requires attention and dedication to be enjoyed properly. I take my coffee seriously. :)

Wanna know why the QRHs are coffee stained on the A320? It’s almost always because the coffee cup mouth opening is put in the aft position (pointing aircraft rear). As in when you look at the coffee holder, the 9’oclock position. That’s the worst place for takeoff or landing, especially takeoff. The coffee will tilt and then flow right out the hole. The best position I’ve found is to have the coffee opening point towards the window. So when you look at coffee holder, the 12’o clock position. I’ve never had ANY coffee spill with this technique.

Another offender? Guys who put their full new coffee in the cup holder with no lid. Bro, that thing is gonna spill.

Wait...so this story is about neither Delta nor any non-EASA carriers? It's not fake news, but it's kinda a misleading thread title.
