Alaska flight 1282, an 737-Max9 experienced explosive decompression. A section of the fuselage (emergency door?) and a thankfully empty seat blew out the side. The aircraft was manufactured in November 2023.

Are those exits deactivated on Alaska(n)’s 739s? Do they rivet them shut or is it just a closed exit door blocked by interior molding?

Why not just keep them as an exit door, whether used or not? Or is it to just get another row or two of seats?
