Official PUBNAT2 Referral List

since nobody answered my question, i am going to try again...

my friend and i were discussing how we thought the panel went. would it be right to assume that this is how it goes: apply, make referral list, referral list is sent to desired locations, locations look over applications, locations take selections to OKC panel? to us it seems kind of like a draft pick.

apply...waiting game....take atsat....wait....receive geo preference email.........wait.....make referral list.... wait....panel meets....they look at well qualified applicants first......hopefully get selected for a facility....wait....PEPC/TOl....wait.....Fol...wait....OKC

For the most part applications are irrelevant once you have taken the ATSAT...thats just my opinion....

Draft pick implies a random method of picking candidates. I don't think that is the case here... there is clearly some type of method we just don't know what it is.

You pick GeoPrefs before making the referral list...

Well.... most of us can't answer you with any degree of certainty. So anything we say is speculative. However, I will tell you how I believe it goes...

You apply-- If you don't make the minimum work or education requirements than you don't get invited to take the At-SAT.

You Take the AT-SAT-- Fail, Qualified, Well Qualified.

Referral email--You get this if you are Qualified or Well Qualified. You select two states you would prefer to work in.

Referral List-- You are put on this if you made the min. score for the states you selected. The minimum score is determined by two things, need of the state versus the quantity of applicants.

Example- Person A chooses Montana and North Dakota. Person B chooses Florida and Georgia. Both score an 89 on the test. Person A happens to get on the list because there are not so many people choosing those states. Person B may not because there are so many people with 90+ scores trying to go to these states.

Panels meet--( this was explained to me by faa personnel) I know each panel is made up of human resource representatives from each service region. These representatives select the people of off the referral list for facilities in their service region. They choose you based on your application and At-SAT score and need of the facility. The referral list is not sent to each location.

PEPC invite-- You get asked to attend interview...receive TOL.

FOL- You receive a firm offer...however, this doesn't mean you will go to OKC right away. Class dates are based on facility need.

So...I don't think it's quite like a draft...i hope this helps.:banghead:

actually yes. we were just hung up on how the panel worked. so it seems that if they aren't looking for people in your geo prefs, then you won't make the referral list, correct?

I believe that is correct...kind of.

What I am saying is... If they are looking for 30 people in GA. and 150 apply and 50 have 95+ score. A guy with an 89 won't make the list.

If the guy with an 89 tries for South Dakota...and they are looking for 5 people and 10 apply then the scores needed to fill the position may be in a wider range because less people are applying even though less jobs are available. Maybe they take all people that are qualified and well qualified to the panel for selection.

Trying to figure it out...sucks...so does waiting.

Does anyone remember those "optional" questions at the end of the application? The ones that pertain to race, sex, etc?

How many people answered them? Of those that did (or didn't)...do ya think that plays any roles in their decision on who to hire and not? Yes, technically it's not SUPPOSE to but Affirmative Action is real (though I don't know if the FAA does it or not).

(I'm sure I've opened a can of worms here!)

I answered them and why shouldn't I? Just like Homer said, "I'm a white male between the ages of 18 and 49, everyone listens to me!"

I never answer them. They can find out that when I walk in for an interview.

I will say this and shut up.

Reverse discrimination exists in the name of diversity. Just as discrimination may unfortunately still happen. I wish people could get to the top on merit.

I agree with out in most instances and I usually never answer them (at least the "race" ones)...but in this case, the only question I DID answer was that I was female. I figured that if there was Affirmative Action, then maybe it'd help...if it's all based on "merit" then so be it...look at my test scores along with everyone else!

i guess for a guy like me with a name of Rafael Hiciano it doesnt really matter if i answer the questions or not huh? doesnt take a genius to figure out what "ethnic group" i am in..

On Oct. 1st, I have to tell my landlady whether I'm renewing the lease for another year. I was hoping to have figured out if I was going to get a PEPC invite by now. With the feet dragging, I'm a little unsure what to do.

Right now I'm assuming a late October/early November PEPC with another 3-4 months for the background checks. Does this sound right? Are we assuming basics classes in OKC in mid to late February?

I've been reading the old threads, but they're not too much help. Can someone let me know if I have it wrong?

We don't really know anything more than that... we originally thought the first PEPC would be next week, which clearly isn't happening now. Then someone said the first PEPC for PUBNAT2 won't be until November. Once PEPCs are over, who knows when we'll get to OKC... there are still so many people from PUBNAT1 who are still waiting for start dates. I'd say February is borderline optimistic at this point.
