Will soon be leaving the ranks of the un(der)employed!

Got a call tonight for an offer from Skywest! Should start class in a month or two. :rawk:

Great news! Congrats! I applied a month or so ago with less than the required multi time and got the "thanks but you don't meet our minimum requirements" letter. Just curious what your times are? Any idea where new hires will be based? Congrats again!

Thanks! I'm at 2300TT/550 Multi, and had worked on the ramp in the past.

Well, I know for sure I won't get an interview if I don't apply. It's not uncommon to be hired below published minimums. I don't think its happening right now, but it's defiantly happened in the past.

Congrats! It could be argued that you'll still be underemployed though  Glad to hear people being hired!

SkyWest's mins are pretty much inviolate.

This topic has been beaten to death! Its nothing but a nuisance to apply below published minimums unless you "know" somebody on the inside. Just firing off apps even though your short of time is a waste for everyone involved, namely the company that is hiring. Besides, 100 hours of multi is a pretty meager amount to begin with...

I don't doubt that there's some truth to what you're saying. It's funny how wide the range of advice you get not only on this forum, but from pilots in general. I've also been advised on this forum and by regional pilots to go ahead and throw out apps to get in the pool. Showing the company that I've been interested for a while etc......

I'd say stick with it. If you're a newly minted comm. pilot, then maybe not so much. But if you're somewhat around their mins, throw it out there. Who's to say they dont find something in your resume they like and give you a shot.

Anyone who gets upset about having to read through 847587234 apps needs to get out of the HR department...

I say "WHO CARES?"

& congrats!

whats your base of choice if you can get it or A/c? (in a magical land where you had an actual say in things)

From my experience, hiring departments don't mind seeing multiple updates of apps. I'm not saying update your app every time you've gained a few hours, but it periodically updating your app shows a continued interest in working for a particular company. Hiring departments like to see that. It makes them feel good about themselves.:D

Thanks! Well, in my magical dream world I'd have the CRJ out of Denver. But my class starts in a month for the Brasilia, so I'll likely be in Fresno (possibly Salt Lick, which would be more better).

Congrats and pay attention in class! Also, learn the rules of reserve (after IOE) so that when the honeymoon with the new airline ends you'll be able to protect yourself from crew support. :)
