not another pilot divorce

Crabs if you're lucky! Or at least you'll look like a jackass to your FO: "Yeah, I go to church every sunday, think Janet Jackson should have went to jail for the wardrobe mal'HOLY crap look at the juggs on THAT one! That reminds me of when I was TDY in the Phillipines..."

There's an awesome marketing scheme for your airline. Fly with us as a pilot and we guarantee you will score with our flight attendants! That's what they're there for.

Oh where, oh where do I start.......

The following is a link to a book that my old flight instructor and pilot buddy of mine from Germany brought me as a gift when they were passing through Michigan and we met up. Just thought I'd throw some more fuel onto the flight-attendant-sex-object fire. Don't kill me - I didn't buy the book, it was a gift and how could I refuse a gift?

Flight Girls

I looked for info on this in English but couldn't find it. Basically the book description just says that male fantasies are simple: they see a flight attendant and imagine her naked. That's what the book delivers. But the pages are thick and glossy, so it's art and not pornography!

Don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger.

Funny, it seems to start early in the pilot career. I'm currently in training for an airline, and we are having lots of classes with the new flight attendants. They sure are cute! Anyhow, occassionally, some of the pilots (me occassionally, too) go out to dinner with the young ladies. It's all innocent fun. But I've got to admit, it would be tempting
wink.gif

Some of the other guys in my class went out late the other night with the girls, and I'm sure something went of with some of them. Can you blame them?

I see it this way...a mid thirties guy who is on the ladder to success and a young pretty girl...sounds like a good match to me.

Problem is when the thirties pilot guy already has a wife and kids at home. I didn't even go out that late night...don't need the temptation. Call me weak, but you just never know what's going to happen when you mix alcohol and cute girls...better to stay away.

Like the old saying goes, just cause you're on a diet, doesn't mean you can't look at the menu. Just make sure you don't order the main course!

"Incidents" occur way more often in training, to my experience. You have more free time and there are more of you in the same place...

Be aware though, that those who spend too much time on "Incidents" often have trouble completing training.

Pilots can be as hypocritical as anyone else. Some will talk "God & Country" in one sentence, then talk about seeing their kid's soccer coach in the next.

What's more hypocritical? Doing that above? Or judging someone by holding them to standards you don't follow yourself?

Now I'm not talking about YOU Doug, but I hate it when someone tells me something I'm doing isn't very "Christian" when they are not!

My usual snappy answer is "what do you know about being Christian?"

Remember that Christians aren't any better than anyone else, they've just asked to be forgiven!

however, not to stay on the subject, but, on a personal level, forgiving is easy (you have no choice but to forgive - to err is human)... it's forgetting that makes or breaks the Christian in you.

Take it from your friendly neighborhood *every now and then* "davey and goliath" supporter

Geez, Wisconsin Lutherans... Can't live with 'em, can't have a guilt-free beer in the church basement without 'em!

I don't see where God says to forget. Forgive, yes. Forget? Not necessarily.

On the other hand, people that keep dredging up the past can be really annoying!

and generally have some "holier than thou" attitude because of that.

I don't know about "generally." It seems to me that it's a small, but very vocal and publicized minority.

I see judgement from all sides. "Tolerance" is a word that's touted by many I know, but I've yet to meet anyone who follows it 100%.

I dunno John, you've accused me a lot of trashing Christians when I was raised Catholic, was baptized in the Catholic church, had my first communion and was confirmed in the Catholic church. I think that makes me a fairly decent authority on the subject; but you continue to dig holes you can't climb yourself out of and tell us that we can't argue with you because we're not part of the club? Sorry man, some of us have been part of the club and decided that it wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

Forgiven? Yes. But to sin so that your reward is bigger in the end? Nope, JC's not havin' any of that.

And JC wasn't an elitist as you, quite honestly, come off as. His followers were prostitues and other regular old sinners. Heck the righteous of the day were the ones that JC was there to get rid of. As far as I've ever seen of you, you don't exault Christ's love or compassion for people. All you seem is bitter and ready to cast the first stone ("yee without sin..."). Maybe I'm wrong; but that's well how you come off. Me? I know I come off as an a$$ but I don't quite care.

You have trashed Christians though. What's this about holes? Is this because of the anti-authority/piercing deal over in another thread? I state my opinions just like anyone else here on the board. Thought that was my right! I guess MY opinions aren't allowed? You see, that's what I mean by the apparent twist on "Tolerance."

I think I see what you mean here, but I'm totally in agreement with it! There is no good reward for sin.

Elitist? LOL my family would be ROLLING right now. I never really considered myself an elitist before. Wow. That's a new feeling!

Bitter? Nah that's the wrong word. If you are referring to my take on professional aviation careers, then the proper term is "experienced and slightly jaded." I see people talking about "quality of life" in another thread, about whether to upgrade to turboprop or stay jet FO. My friends, you do not know what quality of life is until you own your own business! True QOL comes when you make your own decisions each day, and sleep where you want to each night. It may not be total security, but it certainly is freedom.

As far as exalting love and compassion, well it may not always come across in my posts but I DO care. A lot. It's why I post mainly. Why else would I put up with all this heartburn?

And John - I don't believe that you don't care either. Not for one minute! In fact that's why I like you, because YOU DO.

We may not always agree, but as long as there are people who care in the world, good things will be done.
