The customer is always wrong! :D

There's two sides to everything.

Though honestly, I can't defend the 'angel' comment. That was just weird.

Just wait until you non-rev on a mad dog and get the last seat in coach.

No window, right by the engine!

ROOWWWROWWWROOOOWWWWWWWWBAAAAAAAAAHMMMMMMMM

I think that seat is somehow embedded into my pilot record because everytime I'm have to deadhead to LAX I seem to get that seat. Well, actually I get the middle seat, but I digress. Makes me feel like getting the DC's out of my flight kit and turning on the ANR, but then I would be a supreme(r) dork.

Don't bother trying to explain, angel, I know exactly what goes on when you're all alone.

/no? no? Ugh, you guys listen to lame music :p

just trying to negotiate as an NWA customer.

This wasn't a negotiation, it was a request. Two completely different things. Perhaps you could have slid her a twenty on the down low? Or offered to cross the seatbelts at the end of the flight? That's a negotiation.

How about your thought process where you think you're better than everyone else sitting in a window seat that you deserve it more than them?

Sorry, sweetheart, but life isn't all flowers, puppies and love. Flowers die, puppies get served as Chinese food, and love will ultimately end up killing you.

Have a nice day!

Some people prefer to sit in the aisle or not to look outside at all! That's great how that works out huh? That's where "negotiation" comes in. I spoke with one such person and that's why I got a seat I desired!

It has nothing to do with thinking you're better than anyone. Just think about it from a different point of view. Is the window seat really the "best"? Does a preference for a window seat then make one better than the other? Hmm. It depends on what you as an individual think. If it was universally accepted that the window seat was of high status and better than any other accommodation, your analysis might be a little true.

It's unfortunate that you think the way you do about life. :(

Well folks, here's a classic opportunity to learn something if we all just shut the heck up for a few hours.

We have an experienced flight attendant.

We have an irate passenger.

We have A LOT of pilots.

Let's sit back and watch the two interact. We might learn something.

Cool... I'm game.... shutting up now to watch...

Note: Cristl uses "request" and "negotiation" interchangeably

:argue:

I see. They are, however, not the same.

Request: Asking for something.
Negotiation: Asking for something in return for giving something.

Just being a nit-pick.

Well can you agree that window seat > window seat with no window? You're asking someone to displace his/her self to a worse seat "Because I'm a pilot and I need to see out sideways!11"

It's unfortunate that you think the way you do about life. :(

Never worked a job in your life, especially retail, have you?

Ok, it looks like Gurisudenko and MQAAORD are both presently only.

I'm the captain, we're pushing back at 1615 EDT.

Resolution?

Negotiate? What were offering her? ;)

Customers do negotiate, and, from my years of experience, they also tend to demand a lot too.

Honestly, it's really hard to tell here just exactly what happened. We get to hear your side of how nice and diplomatic and kind you were, but we don't get to hear from the F/A how you approached things. Again, expecting a F/A to hunt & scour the cabin for someone to switch seats with you so you can have a better window seat is being demanding. If you're that unhappy with your seat, take it upon yourself to ask folks to move for you or just grab an unoccupied seat once everyone is on board.

Nah, the flight was full. I asked her if I could switch with someone once boarding was done...and then I started speaking with passengers because I know she has a lot to do - I wasn't going to make her try to find something FOR me when I already booked a seat! I did realize that now it was up other passengers. And I wasn't going to push it more than about 10 seconds after the plane was loaded.

If you're the captain, then you make the decision. :p

So playing the pilot card didn't get you the seat you want? What are you gonna tell me next, that playing the pilot card won't get you laid in a bar either? What's this world coming to?!?!

Go back and read what I said about that again. I think you missed something. Is my seat really a "worse" one? Not to everyone. Therefore an inflated sense of entitlement is not applicable to this situation.

I've worked since I was 14 and supported my brother and sister...I have seven years experience in three different states working customer service, retail, and sales.

Perhaps it was you who had the problem communicating, not the FA?

And what does knowing judo have to do with anything? Would you judo-chop a pax if they didn't give in to your "negotiation"?
