Interesting! The US destroyed Iran's former VIP aircraft, an A340-600, in March 2026.

This aircraft does not appear to be one of the four "smuggled" into Iran back in 2022.

Why Did Four Uzbekistan-bound A340s "Vanish" Over Iran?

What's the final destination of the four ex-Turkish Airlines A340s that were diverted to Tehran last week?

It isn't a -600 either. It has the tiny engines.

It has those tiny engines partly because it was designed in the era when ETOPS was not ubiquitous & customer preference drove for four, and also because the the CF6-80E, PW4168 and Trent 772 were being co-developed and Airbus could have ended-up in a situation like Boeing has today with the GE9X with the 777X.
