NOAA changes

It is so strange to me that out of all the Alphabet Soup out there, the target is NOAA. There is a reason I am sure, we just dont know what it is yet and if its for the gain of a few (or maybe 1) or if its to benefit us all.

Part of it is probably revenge for when NOAA personnel refused to alter their forecast of Hurricane Dorian's track after Trump mistakenly said it was headed for Alabama.

Unhinged is right. Hope they realize the NOAA enlisted corps exists
 
For the record I believe this is one area of the government I wouldn’t mind some bloat. I think the current manning levels are too low.

There are no true weather(persons) anymore. It’s just people regurgitating models. And a portion of the time, too regular to discount, they are wrong. As pilots we have all the information available to us that these forecasters do. Sometimes their conclusions about the models hit. More and more it seems like they don’t. When people rely on accurate forecasts and make major decisions accordingly some over worked guy reading 5 different models about 5 different places and trying to come up with something useful isn’t the right answer.

And don’t get me started on climate change data.

Yeah, there’s no mystery about it. I quoted the relevant portion of project 2025 above. It’s exactly as @mikecweb posted-if people ever grasp the real scale of the climate crisis and what to do about it, the entire consumer economy model collapses.

1 I didn’t say it was. I just said it was currently broken.

2 Computers that were fed a coding by ChatGPT for all we know. And if it was scientists that fed the predictive models and they continue to get it wrong a lot of times how are we supposed to trust it? I don’t care where it comes from. It just needs to be right more often than not.

3 yeah I know. Doesn’t matter how many people die as long as it’s in the name of science. But this is a different conversation.

1) You said it was broken, but can’t/ won’t explain how.

2) A made up conspiracy theory to fit the narrative that the NOAA Corps is untrustworthy.

3) How many people are saved because of their forecasting?
 
The NOAA predictions have been spot on, especially for large weather systems.

This last snowstorm we got (last night) the NWS has predicted accurately the amount, type, and start and end times accurately five days in advance. That's insane.

in the end it’ll probably still operate, but with the people they choose to staff it with provided by ( insert oligarch here ), using the same models and methods used now, but with the narrative the it is better because it has the blessing of his holiness Trumpject 25.
