June 8-10, 2007 is when we will be gathering in Chicago for NJC:Chicago....

Hotel should be announced shortly.

Plans are to provide an ORD Tower Tour, Chicago Approach Tour, MOSI and/or Shedd Aquarium Tour and other fun things like picnic at the Blues Festival in Millenium Park etc.

I will be there. Thanks for doing a Midwest meet, this is much easier for me to pull off than a Vegas meet. I will try to go to both though.

Yeah me too I will be there I hope to meet you and Doug then. I get out of school pretty early for this and I know the city too so if you have anyplace in mind on going let me know!:yeahthat:

A question -- we didn't have enough people to get a group rate on hotel rooms, correct? So we're on our own regarding a place to stay?

well, we have at least 6... so that's not bad...I think I can work with the Marriott on that.. so give me a few more days! :)
 
yeah, that's why i figured I'd go with them...the bridge to the train station is right there and there's free shuttle back to ORD...granted 45 minute train ride to downtown but if we don't have to rent cars, then that's all the better!!

I'm working on $99 group rates but I need at least 10 who are going to book rooms...

Anyone ever stayed there?
 
My mom has stayed there a couple times. Seems like a nice place. Seem that ever since the Rennaisance opened on the other side of the expressway that the Marriott has been pretty dead. Have you talked with the Marriott suites? I know their rooms all have 2 beds plus a couch...the room might cost a little more but it might end up being cheaper if people want to share rooms. It is about 2 blocks away from the El stop and they also have a free shuttle to/from ORD.

I've talked to the springhill suites over there but decided against that because if everyone bunks up together, i can't get 10 rooms reserved, therefore, no group rate.

but i could just leave it up to the "get your own hotel" thing cuz sharing a room would save people MORE money than a group rate!

yea.. that was one thing i noticed about it...might be very useful to host NJC in the outside pool area there and let the kiddies swim during...it should be warming up by then!
