Do you know this person? Do you have proof they’re a fake, or not who they say they are? If you don’t have reason to be an ass, then why be one?

If you have proof of some issues, let’s see them. Otherwise, lay off of the conspiracies.

if you don’t have anything nice to say…
Oof. Hey, I got some nice ocean front property in AZ I think you'd be interested in.

@JEP @SteveC @MikeD Can we go ahead and get this moved to the section it deserves so we can really get the party started?

It's a stupid contest trying to see who can spot the newest troll before anyone else. BMOC time.

Meh, let the new guy just play it out. There is no downside to assuming the best and, if needed, deal with the "worst" (even the "worst" doesn't warrant the drama being drummed up already). SMH.

Edit to add: ...and no, this isn't getting moved just so the 5 year olds can feel semi-grown-up.

Behave, children.

Lets see, broken english, a SOC (a term not used since 2013) Marine, multiple deployments doing stuff I couldn't dream of (so non-aviation), and now a major airline pilot, and not answering questions about who you fly for, what base/location, or what airline.

Lucky for me, I wasn't born yesterday.

I think that is uncalled for. I speak english fine just not always when typing and on internet (Who cares?). You are correct that SOC is not a usual term anymore (but it defintely still exists and most know what it means). And I am damn proud of my time there. And what does it matter that I was not a military pilot? Not sure how you relate that to the discussion.

I am no spring chicken. Not as young as some of you young folks getting hired at the airlines. If you would like to know, I left the military doing non flying things but always flew and got my ratings. Decided to quit "corporate" life and join the regionals (Envoy). Loved my time there and all the people I fly with!

Fast forward couple years and in the current hiring wave I recently got picked up by United.

Really think you should take a step back and think before you speak man!!

Well your post was pretty direct. Doing things while I slept in a comfy bed was also something you should have thought of before writing, especially when others asked you where you’re flying, what base, etc. You ignored those questions until now.

Perhaps you are right I came off to directly and should not have made this comment. Again I am happy to be on this site and read the posts. I was never big with the internet forums and such but my mentor from Envoy told me about it. For which airline do you fly for?

Well now you've done it. We're all going to have to read about being acquired, then commuting across the country, then moving across the country, then a base getting shut down. That will devolve in to some discussion about Boeing vs Airbus and how California is being ruined by liberals :D

All in good fun CC, really :)

Welcome to the forum Rover. It's kind of like the Thunderdome lately, but it's always nice to have new members to converse with. Hope you stay for a while.

Mentor from Envoy?

Paging @Dacuj

Say Rover, you haven’t been to any weekend retreat campfire lately in TX have you?

Oh I know exactly what they are doing. This is why people are leaving or not posting here much any more. I think it’s ridiculous to accuse people of being fraudulent just because they are new, or foreign pilots, or whatever the implications were. I know you probably feel the same way, but I had to say something.

Once again, welcome aboard. Some of our members are wound pretty tightly for no reason.

There are others of us who were enlisted that have been in aviation for a while also. Hopefully, you’ll stick around.

Cheers from a former Squid.

Thanks StoneCold. I even tried to converse with the Cherokee Cruiser guy asking where he flew, but he responded with incoherent gibberish.

Me on the other hand I am grateful for my health and getting to work a job I enjoy most of the time. No complaints!

Thanks a lot for the warm welcome. I love it

He’s never going to tell you where he flies. Even though everyone on here already knows. He refers to it as a “virtual airline.”

also, he refuses to type out the word “Muslim” instead he uses “moose lambs.” He’s a diehard Republican, even though he voted for Hillary. He hates California, and everything about it, (especially the libbies) yet he refuses to move.

I’m sure there’s more, but that’s a quick intro of him.

welcome!

Yep. I still stick around to try and help people out. But the loud obnoxious people have taken over and chased a lot of good people out.
I stick around because I remember how cool things used to be - some sort of nostalgia for a bygone era.

I had guys from JC crash on my couch during the glory days - those guys went on do have adventures and do some cool flying. I met some really wonderful friends on here, and learned a ton about life, flying, and professionalism. I also learned how to not be so • serious all the time. It made me a better crew member.

Another extremely cool thing was I learned who I “didn’t want to be like.” That was useful too - bitter and upset at the crap hand they were dealt etc. that was informative too.

Ultimately, though I can’t fly anymore I stick around because I believe in what this place was and could be - namely a cool place to share information about life, society, aviation, and adventure.

Unfortunately a lot of great people have left and people in general seem to be having fewer adventures these days. I still care about this place though - it basically augmented my career and knowledge at every stage post commercial.

Welcome @Rover258, take a seat! Share your wisdom and perspective on the world!

The same way no one here works for Delta, they work for SJI. I made my own up, and call it a virtual airline. Hillary vote was 2016, Trump was 2020, and it’ll be a straight R ticket for 2024. Yes California sucks, even the libbies are going to Austin so they’re leaving too. I’m gonna go home and instead of leaving my AC at 76, I’m gonna set it to 71 just to stick it to CA’s request of keeping it at 78 or higher. ;) There. Did I cover all the bases? :D
