Well why not compare apples to apples? We aren't comparing the cost of living out here to the cost of living in FL so lets take a look at a local FBO.
FBO's C-172 R model - $97/hr
Sierra's C-172 R model - $101/hr
Damn! Are we really paying $4 hr. more? That's gonna break me for sure!

Not sure I understand your comment about the cost of living. California living cost are more than Florida. Therefore, I would expect Sierra to cost a little more.
In my original post I was just interested to hear how the cost of flying in California compares to the cost of flying elsewhere in the country. I am sure Sierra’s prices are similar to other FBOs in the area because they are all paying similar taxes, rent, insurance, etc.
Anyone else have per hour prices for Arizona or Florida flight schools?

By the way I agree, Sierra will definitely not be the first school with glass trainers. Not that I really care at this point but here is one school with them already:

What is a Cessna Pilot Center you ask?
http://se.cessna.com/bacpc/why_become.chtml
Specifically, the CPC Program offers flight schools the only integrated flight-training system in existence (the Cessna Computer-Based Instruction (CBI) Program), access to a variety of CPC-exclusive programs, and free instructional Seminars to help operate your business more efficiently and profitably.
The Cessna CBI Program is the only integrated flight-training system in existence. This means that the flight labs (computer-based portion) and the flight lessons are paired so that students’ retention rates are as high as possible. Students using the Cessna CBI are completely prepared for their flight lessons---they have seen and studied the material before they get to the airplane and therefore they perform better in the airplane. With higher retention rates, students learn faster which leads to lower course completion times and lower dropout rates - In fact, research shows that Cessna Private Pilot CBI students complete their training in approximately 30% fewer hours than the national average, saving both time and money.
As a member of the CPC network, you have access to programs including insurance, flight-training financing, and website development. Because of the size of the CPC network, members have access to advantages and benefits that flight schools cannot gain alone. At CPC, we call this the “Value-Added Program” because these programs add value to your membership in the CPC network.
Approximately three times each year, the CPC Division hosts CPC Seminars. The purpose of these Seminars is to help the CPCs improve their operations and profitability. The Seminars are free, and are open to current CPCs and to flight schools interested in becoming a CPC. Typical topics covered at the Seminars are fleet modernization, risk management, marketing ideas and resources for your CPC, how to use the CBI and CMM effectively, and flight school accounting. Presenters at the Seminars often include representatives from other organizations in the aviation industry and from organizations involved in specific CPC Programs.
I am sure others have more info on the benefits of CPC.
