New GI Bill and Flight Training

Have you ruled out using the GI Bill at an FBO on the weekends? It will pay up to $10,000 per year for non-IHL flight training.

True, $10,000 per year is nothing. It will take me 6 years, going from zero hours, to get where I need to be at that rate.

I just heard back from UVU. They said the GI Bill does not cover flight training costs - just the online learning part.
Basically means that flight training provider bills the student directly instead of the school ... Which is stupid .... All it takes is an agreement between school and the provider while VA pays the bills anyway ... Avoid it ...

It should be noted that any association with MSU is now glaringly absent from ATP's site...

Talked with ATP today regarding my flight hold, should be lifted tomorrow. I asked him about the website, and he said they are supporting existing students, but aren't accepting new applicants until the accreditation issue is sorted out.

That's actually good news ... Better than anything else. And accreditation issue will be sorted out ....

Ya, agreed, I'm beginning to calm down...though now I'm starting to freak out about a relatively close AMEL checkride. I haven't been in the cockpit for a good 5 years.

Yeah, it's not the Multi Engine stuff, that's all fresh, it's the rest of the PPL stuff that has gotten rusty...lol

God I hope so!
It might take a little longer of course but it will come back eventually.... Any news? Like you were asking, ASU should do it.... But be prepared to let go of all your military training credits... I lost 24+ credits.... That doesn't even include my flight training...

I'm kind of at the point that if the MSU thing falls through, I'll take it as a sign to take a step back, finish up my IT degree. I was super blessed this Feb. when I got a job dropped into my lab at a National Laboratory doing IT for the Nuclear Engineering division...Really, I should be in no hurry to take a 60% pay cut....
