New FAA Writtens (ATPw = 30h ground + 6hr Level C Sim from Aug-14)

One could make a lot of money grabbing some level-C sims and undercutting the big boys with a program for this.

The new rules say it has to be in a level C or D sim which is
  • FAA FFS Level C - Requires a motion platform with all six degrees of freedom. Also lower transport delay (latency) over levels A & B. The visual system must have an outside-world horizontal field of view of at least 75 degrees for each pilot.
Millions!

I know, it depends what the revenue stream is like, I'd have to do math to see if it is worth it. If classes were going all day and it was often in use, it may work out. Takes a lot of money to make a lot of money usually, and people are going to need that level C time. Projector screen could also double as a green screen for film rentals. You never know, I found DC-10 and classic 747 level C sims for a few hundred thousand.

If a person takes the written ATP by July 2014 but fails to accumulate 1500 hours by July 2016 the ATP written is then expired and must be retaken?

Yes, which means you need to get your R-ATP or ATP within 24 months of your written, or it's going to get expensive to retake that written...

Hmm, if you take the written before Jul. 2014 but are flying with a commercial cert building up hours part 135 it shouldn't matter if you get your ATP with that company until 2026?

Alex.

They changed that rule. It's now 24 months, even if employed by a 135/121 carrier.

That's what I'm saying, how many are going to spend the money and take the time to get a degree, get private, instrument, commercial, CFI, CFII and multi, then spend a couple years as a CFI making nothing, then spill another $7-10k just to be eligible for a job that pays the same as a fast food employee.

 I'm so proud of guys.... The raising awareness of the bull turd going on is awesome! Reasons posted above is why i get so "Ultimate Worrior-shhh" :bang:when certain pilot groups (cough cough PSA) take donkey concessions.
