New Eagle TA

Might have actually worked out better that way.

When you need meeting space, you just don't call a hotel and say, "Gimme a room!"

There are usually catering minimums and the "open bar" is generally per person per hour and, of course just playing Devil's Advocate here, it may have brought it up to the minimum catering buy in.

Orrrrrr there was booze and hookers.

Nothing says family like hookers and booze.

I find it amazing that an ALPA rep would make a post like this. Wonder if the Prez would approve? This has serious problem written all over it. There are things one should just keep quiet about if one doesn't want to disparage ALPA at da social media sites. This is the poster child. Hello Todd.......

Are you functionally retarded? Do you not understand that this isn't some sort of secret? It's openly advertised to get pilots to show up at events.

Are you functionally retarded?.

Ummm....I don't think so but you'd have to ask my F/O's. How do you define functionally retarded exactly? Do you work with folks that are retarded? Just wondering since you often use this comment.

I do remember that you said your grandma suggested that ridicule was an effective and productive way to argue. Sure she is very proud....

I'll take that as a "yes."

"My grandma thought mountains were rocks that have been growing for a long time."

Well, you grew up in the flatland of the San Joaquin valley. That's understandable. But what did she think Tule fog was?

Nah, she was from the nether region that was East Texas/West Louisiana!

I think it was Seggy who mentioned that management is salivating at the disunity that is going on and I would agree. Everyone might not agree on certain things but as professionals and mature adults, there has to be a common ground that should be reached. It's great to be passionate about something but don't let that passion cloud your rational thought process.

If there is disunity within the MEC, how can they unite the pilot group as a whole?

Your question is an excellent one, and it has received much thought. At the end of the day, we are all eagle pilots and will live with however the vote goes. That unified us. There is a percentage of people, with various arguments, that want to vote no. There is a percentage of pilots, with various arguments, that want to vote yes. That has the potential to divide us. If we all keep in mind that our fight here is not with each other, and that it is the company that put us here, we can disagree and debate yet remain largely united.

The problem is that there is a small group of disgruntled former union volunteers actively sewing seeds of division by spreading disinformation in an attempt to make the current union volunteers the adversary. That is unacceptable. As the com chair, I will try to blunt any attempts to sway pilot vote inappropriately, regardless of who they are or what they are attempting. Fortunately, for the most part this small group is failing in their attempts, and actually solidifying some who would vote no, which is not what this small group wants to do.

Wait......YOU ARE THE COM CHAIR???????

Are you functionally retarded? Do you not understand that this isn't some sort of secret? It's openly advertised to get pilots to show up at events.

So a guy who openly touts as "money well-spent" booze at family awareness event, because it gets the message spread, in an industry with some high profile black eyes involving drunk pilots on duty, in an environment where a single DUI can severely damage or kill your career - touts this as a good idea - makes the highly-intellectual argument that to disagree makes you "retarded"? Oh yeah, you are a true leader, thanks for your lifetime union achievements. And after your man-crush comments about Bill C, I'm sure he and the prez would love to see you posting this on a forum.

Either you are unaware of the depth of the corruption of the previous eagle MEC, or you know and are covering. Your relationship with Special Jared is cute, but be careful who you sidle up to. Jared was throttled by his team recently, because they really don't want to revisit the issue, and throwing down a challenge like "why didn't you keep digging" is simply not a good idea for them. I will never have to worry about someone asking me to repay to ALPA a single nickel of reimbursed funds. Some others already have that box checked and don't want to have the subject brought back up.

As for B scale, believe what you like. I know the truth and many other do too. Jared didn't say they didn't dream it up. He said Kirby presented it to them. Well crafted, false impression.

I'm all for some good old fashioned passionate scrutiny, but

"Open bars are normal at family awareness and similar events throughout the Association. The reason for this is simple: if you tell pilots that they'll get free alcohol if they show up to the event, then attendance skyrockets and you get your message out to far more pilots. It is money well spent."

I see Todd as Jack Nicholson in a "Few Good Men" foaming at the mouth "You can't handle the truth".
I always felt it was weird too.

It should. By the time I felt like I needed to offer free booze to get the communication done, I'd wave a white flag, surrender in French and recall myself.

Personally, if you're running a family awareness event in my town, all the bounce houses, Ball Park franks individual bags of chips from Costco aren't going to drag me out. Offer me some free beer, you're on! :)

Hell, even my company that runs roadshows at our domestic hubs (sometimes) and our international hubs like AMS and NRT will offer free beer and hot snacks. Otherwise, why in the hell would I bother going down to the conference room during a layover to hear what they had to say when I can be face down in a LeRoy Jenkins "plate of chicken"?
