New "controller" at KJFK Tower...

I think that is one of the coolest things i've ever heard on a freq... imagine how that will encourage a whole generation of kids that want to do ATC? Awesome post!

As all have said...so awesome. I too hope the controller doesn't get in trouble. I want to put it on my FB but think I'll keep it here instead.

We need that kid here at LGB instead of the one known as TODD.

I tried some more today, but alas, he still didn't make the jump.

There is always tomorrow.

Unfortunately?! I don't think so. That's a good thing. This is not a game and these things should not happen.
Would you also allow your son to take your seat at the controls like the Russian captain did??

I dont think letting the kid make a few transmissions hurt anything..i think its UNFORTUNATE that the FAA is now gettin involved...I really enjoyed listening to that audio clip

I'm no controller, but I would think the controller wasn't focusing as much since he was proud of his kid and he has to relay the transmissions to the kid.

Its sad to see what a fear mongering society this has become...the sky is falling, the sky is falling ahhhhh...:insane:

Apples and oranges. You can do damage a lot more quickly at an airplane's controls than you can with a tower's mic.

This is awesome. It really made me happy to hear this.

It is sad that if the media found out about this it would probably be on national television within 10 minutes and they would cry for the controller to be fired.

I knew that this bullcrap was going to happen. I saw it on NBC this morning and they were raging about it. The FAA has essentially fired the controllers now as well.

I knew that this was going to happen.

On a side note, don't you guys love how late the media are on this? It really shows how out of touch they are.

I knew that the media was going to push the FAA to crucify JFK for doing this.

yep - too bad. our society of fearmongering and such bites big butt. saw it on GMA in the hotel lobby this morning... give me a break. i hope public outcry won't be super-influenced by the fear news. but people generally follow whatever the news says like so many lambs to the slaughter.

It is so stupid. NBC made it seem as if the kid was alone up in the tower. We all know that the real controller was right there with him telling him exactly what to say. NBC wanted to make it seem like the controllers said " Hey kid, take the wheel why we go grab a burger, be back in 15"

I haven't listened to JFK TWR the past few days but if they fire that guy that has controlled there a really long time that has the strong NY accent, It will really be a shame.

I allow children to take the controls of my airplane on a routine basis. Often, we even have passengers on board, usually the child's own parents!

Flight instructors must be crazy.

if only FFA licensed controllers are suppose to talk to aircraft how in the hell are we allowing trainies to talk to them, they are not licensed yet? dont answer it its a retorical question. ive seen some trainies do more damage that a dozen 12 year old could do.

iam also one of those bad controller that have let children give clearences to aircraft, i was a very bad man a very bad man ,or was i.i guess if i was a manager haveing sex with a trainie like the guy in denver id be a better person.
