I already have a cirrus killer. Its a T210
 
When I read the FLYING article a few months back I was thinking we'd see one in the next year not this OSHKOSH then I read the AOPA ePilot Report, WOW.

All I have to say is...

YES, YES!!!

Cessna has finally realized they needed a new model and they brought out TWO!!!

I really thought they would go for a retrac this time though. The Cirrus-buster might be in line for it a few years down the road. But the trend is fixed gear with smooth airframes and big engines.
 
I read an article a few weeks ago (Flying - I think, with the Diamond twin on the cover) that said the conventional wisdom was the cost and complexity of retrac, plus the insurance costs (which are huge, apparently) do not offset the performance gains.

Aesthetically, I like retrac, but my pocketbook doesn't fall prey to aesthetics, y'know?
 
True dat. Some of the fastest piston singles, the Cirrus and the Columbia, are fixed gear. There's no reason to bring the gear up in a GA airplane.

You never know. But they have just teamed with Honda to produce the HondaJet.
