Uhhh...I just did. The web site is updated quite infrequently.

Well, I hope the words you are hearing "around base" are true then rather than what's stated on the "official website". No way to know unless we try, huh?

How's the company to work for? I tried the site to find out the routes and such, but it's apparently being updated and that info wasn't available.

I can see it now, Mins = 275/5 *Commercial must be completed

Re: New ASA hiring min\'s

The "extra" stuff on the site has been unavailable for months. Look at the aircraft numbers on the site...that hasn't been correct for a LONG time. As far as the mins go I've heard it from people directly involved in recruiting/hiring.

Upgrade times can vary. Right now it seems to be about three years or so but who knows what the future holds. The ATR is the quickest route to PIC time.

Yea but aren't they phasing out the ATR? Isn't ASA long over due for a all jet fleet?

Re: New ASA hiring min\'s

The ATR and other T-props are still very good fits for certain routes. It doesn't take many people to break even on that thing. It is a cash cow for us on the shorter trips. ASA is also not as of right now getting rid of all of the ATR's. We have reduced the number to about 11 or 12 right now. The fate of the rest has yet to be determined.

Re: New ASA hiring min\'s

I would guess lots, or as many as they need to fill slots. I'm not sure they would go this route, but you could also pay pilots less with those lower times.

....and the downward spiral will continue. Why not just hire with 100/20 and pay them nothing?

Well cause PAX prefer jets over turboprops!

Re: New ASA hiring min\'s

Actually there never has really been a study that conclusively proved that. It was mostly a marketing gimmick put into place by regionals who adopted jet fleets quickly.

That said, given the chance (and hopefully I will get it

) I think between the faster upgrade and the realative coolness of the plane, I would probably go for the ATR over the RJ. The way I look at it, I will have the *rest* of my career to fly planes with jet engines on them. When else am I going to get an option at a 66 seat (I think) turbo prop? Well, all that as long as I'm not having to deal with too much icing in it. Sorry, this paragraph was sounding sort of a.net-ish.

Great Lakes is hiring for the IGM base. You and I could fly together.

LOL.

I would definitely consider flying for Chautauqua to make a move back to central Ohio. I didn't know until tonight that you could base there.

I hope you are kidding.... Ohio is the arm pit of America!

You're joking right.

The armpit is ND, specifically Grand Forks.

We have an average low temp in January that is below 0. I think this January are high was near 0 or just above it.

This place blows, but the people are fun and we know how to have a good time.
