New Airline Transport Pilot!!!

:rawk:Well done; BTW did it really snow somewhere in Texas this week??

Unbelievably yes it did. The examiner did two ATP checkrides that morning. I was second, and when they landed from the first ride he asked me did I want to fly. I said hell yes!

Luckily after we finished it just started raining. The examiner also stated that he saw snow while we were flying around. While I waited at DFW for my flight back home, it snowed non-stop, didn't stick but was constant.

Climate change...............?

Probably yes, since your employer will likely require it (at some point anyway).

I deduct all of my training I do for my day job (that my employer doesn't pay for already). Economist and WSJ subscriptions? Tax deductions. Flying for currency? Tax deduction (Hey, I'm a commercial pilot, counts against the income I made from flying). Hell, the laptop I use for trading stocks was a tax deduction. NJC 2010 may well be a tax deduction, you are there looking for a job, right? ;)

Find a good CPA, should be easy, they spend a lot of time in airports.

Thanks for the tips... Should come in handy for my 2010 return.

I might move on a condo in the next few months.... So we'll see how it goes.

Where is this school and how can I find it? Is there a website or info I can contact?

I just realized that it was AllATPS. They are showing this course for 1795 on the website. How did you get 995?

I found it through the lovely JC community! Here is a link of the website:

The airport isn't that busy like most airports can get with flight schools and FBO's, so you won't be waisting your time.

Congrats! I'm strongly considering going there to get my ATP.

Just curious about how the flights are conducted since I've been flying crew airplanes since 2005. Is the ATP checkride conducted in a crew environment, or is it like the other FAA checkrides where you're supposed to pretend the other guy isn't even there? In other words, can you hand the plane over to the examiner so you can get set up and brief the approaches, or is it essentially a single-pilot operation? I would think that part of the ATP evaluation is to determine whether or not you can operate in a crew environment, but I've been wrong before.

It is basically how well you can fly single-pilot. The examiner will tell you everything you need to know and is open to questions if you have any.

I would say the crew environment is virtually at the airlines if you should decide to go that path.

Like everyone else said it is another instrument check-ride, which is nothing to sweat.
