Antisocial Monster
Heya everybody,
Networking pays off big time. This past weekend I managed to get hired at a flight school out in Jersey thanks to Seggy. In fact he did all the legwork, got me there, introduced me to the right people and let me crash at his place while this was all going on.
The story starts at Network JC 2004, actually a few days before. Mark (Seggy) says that he's renting a car and asks if anybody needs a ride. A few of us chime in and say we'd love a ride to the hotel. Since meeting Mark at NJC2004 he's been really great about keeping in contact with me (I'm really horrible about returning phone calls, to be honest). When Mark heard that I was in the hunt for a job, he told me he'd call me if he heard about anything out his way. This last weekend he heard there was an opening at his old flight school and that he wanted to get me out to Jersey to interview.
So after a few phone calls, Mark got me on a flight to LGA, put me on a train down to Jersey and I was interviewing with this school on Sunday morning. Great people at this school, good planes and a chance to build some quality hours.
I wouldn't have this oppertunity without Mark, NJC2004, Doug and Kristie or Jetcareers overall. Thanks to everybody that's helped me along the way with this whole progression. I picked the flight school I finished up training with because of this site and now I've got my first job because of the people I met on this site.
If you think you can get through this industry without networking and having friends to help you out, you're wrong. Get to the next NetworkJC, meet people and most importantly pay it forward and help people out whenever you can. Mark has done a HUGE favor for me here and I can't thank him enough for everything that he's done.
