I wish I had AFJROTC at my school so I could get ground school done for free. I'm in NJROTC and all we learn is about ships. I'm convincing my instructor to teach us naval aviation though.

I was in NJROTC. Had a blast, and I think that's one of the reasons I'm who I am today. Our Naval Science Instructor my 2nd and 3rd years was a Commander, Surface Warfare type with alot of Spec War background. Cool guy, and we did alot of fun things.
My first year NSI was a LtCdr, rotary wing type. That was when I decided I couldn't join the Navy . . .
The ANSI was a Retired Marine Corps First Sergeant, and we remain friends to this day. He was awesome, took no •!, and taught me lots of things.
We went on lots of trips. First year, we did a one-week mini-boot camp at the recruit depot in San Diego. 2nd and third years, we went to the Mare Island Naval Shipyard for mini boot camps. It was during ym 2nd year, at Mare Island, that we spent an afternoon hanging out with the Marines at the Marine Corps Security Forces Battalion. Decision made.
My NJROTC unit had a mini-boot camp, on a military installation, every year. One of my greatest joys as a Corporal and Sergeant of Marines, was when I'd take a week of my personal leave each year and go serve on the "Drill Instructor" staff for their mini-boot camp. Myself, and several other former cadets from the school that ended up in the Corps would do it. I even ended up with a Letter of Commendation for it.
NJROTC was alot of fun. Good memories made there.
