Put your mouse pointer in the little arrow that points down ( right lower part of the screen), and click it, this will move the scroll bar, and you'll eventually get to page 47.

I actually considered going to Japan for a year of HS (this year actually), but I decided that I'd miss out on too much - I can see the world after HS. The weeklong - 2 week thing sounds interesting, just be cautious of the following two words: fee required.

Of course there's all the aerospace stuff on page 48 too!

I wish I had AFJROTC at my school so I could get ground school done for free. I'm in NJROTC and all we learn is about ships. I'm convincing my instructor to teach us naval aviation though.

Actually I think it'd be pretty neat to be on a team that takes a sailing craft around for a while, work the sails, learn how to use a sextant, et. al.

I was in NJROTC. Had a blast, and I think that's one of the reasons I'm who I am today. Our Naval Science Instructor my 2nd and 3rd years was a Commander, Surface Warfare type with alot of Spec War background. Cool guy, and we did alot of fun things.

My first year NSI was a LtCdr, rotary wing type. That was when I decided I couldn't join the Navy . . .

The ANSI was a Retired Marine Corps First Sergeant, and we remain friends to this day. He was awesome, took no •!, and taught me lots of things.

We went on lots of trips. First year, we did a one-week mini-boot camp at the recruit depot in San Diego. 2nd and third years, we went to the Mare Island Naval Shipyard for mini boot camps. It was during ym 2nd year, at Mare Island, that we spent an afternoon hanging out with the Marines at the Marine Corps Security Forces Battalion. Decision made.

My NJROTC unit had a mini-boot camp, on a military installation, every year. One of my greatest joys as a Corporal and Sergeant of Marines, was when I'd take a week of my personal leave each year and go serve on the "Drill Instructor" staff for their mini-boot camp. Myself, and several other former cadets from the school that ended up in the Corps would do it. I even ended up with a Letter of Commendation for it.

NJROTC was alot of fun. Good memories made there.

I did NJROTC in high school also. I had a blast. I was in so many other activities that I didn't have to time to do the mini bootcamps though. Therefore, I couldn't be an officer. I only got to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. I was a class leader for two years and on the shooting rifle team. I actually ranked as high as 86th out of some odd thousand in the nation once. Man, that seemed so long ago.

Also could somebody please explain what afjrotc does and if there are any commitments to the program.

no military commitments whatsoever. You quit when you want. JROTC programs usually do the same stuff regardless of branch. This is what we do at mine:

Monday: Intel (Current Events). You report in front of the class and talk about your current event.
Tuesday: Usually go outside and drill.
Wednesday: PT day. Usually warm ups then push ups, sit ups, few laps and etc. Then we play kickball or something.
Thursday: Uniform day. Uniform has to be impecable and haircuts and etc must be done.
Friday: Usually we just do whatever and the instructors eaches us something about the war on Iraq. Actually learned a lot of interesting stuff in that class. Discussions can go anywhere from the naval instructor's stories or whatever's going on.

Overall it's not a bad class. Since we placed I think 5th in nationals, the instructors expect a lot from us. From time to time one of the cadet's dad who is a former Marine Colonel (current Us Air senior Cpt) inspects us. Man is he expecting. He's the only one that asks us for our blood types.

I hate having to keep my hair at a 3 max on top all the time. Maybe it's all worth it though, who knows?

Lols at you! ^

As for the question:

From what I read is this stay going to be abroad? That's what I take it to believe, but who know's? They could move you to Compton or whatever and study culture there...lol.

I had gone to Germany for 3 weeks after my Junior year of HS. And damn was it ever great. We had just over a week of touring, then a week family stay, followed by a few more days traveling.

It was all done with a Co. called ISE. We had about 6 kids from my high school together with kids from 3 or 4 other high schools in the Midwest. In all we filled a coach bus.

As for the program you're looking at I'm not sure how that'll be handled, but it must be somewhat similiar.

If you can financially swing it, I'd say do it.
